thanks guys.

I mean i know that those bands use mostly of a 5150. butttttttttttt, i was open to tryin new stuff out. I know mesa and peavey's play a big part in these bands (sounds). I just always heard alot of good stuff about marshalls and how there good for all around playing. I think i am going to test drive a framus or a splawn, after all i got a endorsement from splawn, but just bc i am endorsed by them doesn't mean i need the amp haha ;) , i really dig there cabs alo to.

But i got to talking to dal today.

prolly will be getting something custom going from splawn. Of course it'd be The nitro head with kt88's (matching head for my custom cab) :D

For the tones that you're looking for get a Dual Recto and run it with your 5150. You will have all the brewtals that you can handle.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of the DSL. It's an ok amp, but there are much better amps out there. For what you'll spend on a used DSL, you can pickup a used TriAmp Mk I and it slays the DSL, IMHO.

I wouldn't waste your time on a DSL. They are far from ideal for the style you describe. I'd checkout a Bogner Uberschall or Deizel Herbert.

Where the heck can you get a used triamp mk 1 for $600??

I see them on eBay all the time for $900- 1300. I didn't realize that the DSL prices had gone back down. At any rate, In my opinion, you will not find a better amp in the $1k range than a used TriAmp Mark I. I know that this amp isn't the most popular one on this board, but it has stopped all of my GAS for the past two years. That says alot considering that I used to cycle through amps every four to six months. Bad economy or not, you shouldn't have to spend $2k plus for good tones. I just refuse to do it. I get compliments on my tone every time we play a show.

I'm not trying to diss anyone or any amp. I just believe that the world of amp prices has gotten way out of hand. However, that's just my opinion.

Come on Kevin. For all those bands you mentioned you don't get a much more ideal head than the 5150. I mean that head has been used by all those bands and used on almost all their cds. The Oncoming Storm, Alive Or Just Breathing, Gone Forever, Determination, and so on and so forth. All those albums have 5150 on them. The only other thing I could think of is going with a Rectifier. I am just more of a guy who sticks to the tried and true brands.

That being said I want a Fireball hahahaha and a Suhr Od100SE+.

I thought Alive or Just Breathing was an SLO? Was the 5150 mixed in?

I guess that makes since, considering I HATE the tone on that album, even though it's one of my favorite albums ever.

Triple Rec and 5150 I am pretty sure. The End Of Heartache has 5150 on it also.
Wow, I always thought it was an SLO. I know Joel used one for awhile during that era.

Yeah he has the Slo with the Warren Hayes mod. I know they did use it on the Holy DIver cover for sure. I just think the Slo tone is way to smooth for whats on AOJB.
I know he was running a SLO almost bone dry when I saw them on their first tour.

Yeah, I can agree with that, but there is something about the mids and the gain structure that reminds me of a SLO.

Yeah I could see that also. I wish I could have seen them back then. I have seen them like 7 times and love it every time, but it would have been nice to have seen em back in the day. Was that the Soilwork tour or before that?

Before that. I can't recall who was with them, I was a 'wee lad.

I was one of 8 people at the show, and it was incredible. Jesse gave me a shirt, which I still wear to this day despite it being far to small for me.
