Ok...I recently picked up an older DSL 100 which I think is incredible for the money. Has anyone compared one to a VM 100? I remember playing yngzaklynch's VM a few years back and loving it. We had it at my house for a mini amp fest and it hung with the Cameron's that were also there. That was over 8 years ago and I haven't played one since...

They're both good amps.

I never understood the VM "body & detail" knobs, they always seemed weird.

DSL all the way. Agree the VM can be more fickle, but sounds great when dialed in. Have had both. DSL has a much better loop and can use it to boost solos; couldn't do that on the VM. Can also do some easy mods on the DSL (C12) to get more out of the red channel. Tons of easy mods on the boards for that amp.

Two different beasts. DSL may have the edge on gain, but I was fortunate enough to piece together a VM 2266 stack with the VM cabs. The VM head through the VM cabs kills most of the amps in the field. Most heads played through the VM cabs are vastly improved. I've owned both and for versatility I'll take the VM. Great tones.
