Super low volume? Sounding pretty good! I love a SM57 as a standard but lately I been adding a condenser about six or seven feet out and five feet up on a 2x12 combo and it adds a whole other dimension that you can mix with the 57 as your core sound. I'd highly recommend giving it a shot if you have a condenser to spare. Definitely would pay to experiment with distances and heights. I don't think I will ever record again without that second mic since the results were so good for me. Regardless, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your reply.

Yeah, it was basically off. :D I recently sold my second 57, my 906 and my 421. I'm on a less is more trip at the moment. I also tried Ribbon mics.

I have a Behringer measurement condenser, which i could try...but i probably won't. :) I don't think that it would sound good, but i recently had an eye on the Neumann TLM 102.

But i'm quite happy with a single SM57.

What Condenser do you use?

I read that Bob Rock used an extra room mic for the Black Album. They searched for days for the right spot.

I was also quite happy with a 57 until I added the condenser. For studio work I wouldn't want to be without. Really can open up the tone and make everything sound better.

Warm audio WA84 has given good results overhead on drums, room mic'ed guitar amps, acoustic guitars, and still works decent for vocals as well. Was about $400. I've no doubt that Neuman you mentioned would also serve you similarly well.

Your clips are some of the nastiest clips on here….and I mean that in as nasty being awesome….death metal fo sho…but dare I say….melodic death grrr chugga chuggas?
Thanks a lot. I appreciate that. ;)

I'm getting a new pedal from Deadweald soon to test. I'm hoping it gets here in the next few weeks or so. I can't wait.

I need to turn up the Master first. The room's not quite made for a boosted 2203 at it's sweet spot.

Here's the old Mesa Clip for comparison. Have one with a Rev Blue Über as well.
I know what i prefer.

Awesome! Which one? The "M"-Version of the Duality DX?
Nah it's a new pedal he is working on. I'm hoping he sends me a dx-m too. He is working on a new series of pedals and this one is the first of that new set.

Yes, i saw that. "This pedal is based on an extremely popular animalistic distortion circuit featuring the original circuit and 4 different mods. "
HM2-Style, or what? Rat?
