Here it is before the mod:

And after:

The components that needed to be taken out to give room for new circuit designs:

.

The whole preamp circuit is revoiced and changed to get a tight and focused distortion that is very dynamic and versatile.
You can play anything from metal, classic rock, broken up cleans and crisp clean just turning the two gain controls.
The power amp is also revoiced and got dual punch controls which give you great control over the bottom end.
Three electrolytic capacitors were swollen and are now replaced with capacitors with higher voltage rating and higher temperature rating.

Guitar straight into the amp.
TC G-major II in the loop for some delays.
Cab: Malmberg 4×12 with old Greenbacks.
Mics: Golden Age R1 mkIII, Tascam DR-40.

Great job again. I love how you're mods never sound compressed.

You sir, are a wizard of wiring! That sounds amazing! Well done and thx for sharing!

Sounds great as always! O.K. I'll ask........How much? :D

Thank you! This amp belongs to a customer. The price for this mod alone is $750 (incl one punch control). These amps are relatively cheap so it's possible to get a killer amp just under $2K incl shipping to North America if I'm able to find any used SL-X amps to good prices.

Wow. I know I sound like a broken record. But production amp please please please

How do you feel about the transformers in the 900's? I always felt those amps had a sterile quality that didn't "blossom" when you turned them up.

Probably the best amps being Modded currently I have heard. Really special, and dynamic, raw, and tight. I want one so bad. Wish it was more in my budget.

I needed to work a little more with the power amp section to get it where I wanted but I really liked the result when I was finished with the amp, very punchy and dynamic.

Bring it to me! :2thumbsup:

I just might...I will say, I mustve got a good one, cause its pretty nice tone and feel out of the box, very raw open overtones.I believe mine has winged cs in it.It can get noisey in a hurry depending on how you run the 2 gains..Side by side with my 30th marshall, both on high gain channels,I can get them pretty close but-the 30th has bigger, tighter bottom end,and a different type of "gain",but the sl-x is more open and raw, maybe a bit meaner voiced too..I hear these marshalls come biased very cold from the factory and after a better bias they come to life..idk..is that true?..I like mods only if they dont take away any of the original true marshall character of the amp?..I want to keep that if possible when considering a mod.
