That'd be badass....got a long wait though; he's finishing up two Explorers and then taking on my next build. :D

does he have a limit as to what colors he offers?

PM sent to take it out of the thread.

Bang for the buck, it's my honest opinion that its one of the best amps you can buy.

They're great amps. I own one and it ends up on recordings regularly. The only downside is the higher gain channels are a bit noisy, but it doesn't detract from the amp for me. Works through the Mesa cab great or Greenback loaded cabs. It doesn't love active pickups, but it doesn't hate them either. Boosting the amp is great too.

Does not love active pickups...do they in this case add to the noise? or does it just make the amp sound wrong?

I've done reamps through it with actives and it hasn't been an issue. The amp just plays more nicely with passives in my experience. Some amps retain their feel with either, but the JVM sounds a bit pushed.

I've got the JVM410 JS. Very versatile amplifier and the noise gates are amazing.
Takes a little while to dial in, at first I was overwhelmed with trying to incorporate too many sounds from the modes and switch between them...I mean there's 28 knobs on the front of the damn thing!!
I found 4-5 tones I switch between and have more fun playing.

Bottom line, for a non boutique production amplifier, a couple minor upgrades and some decent glass makes this amp compete with the best of them. Love it

Huge JVM fan here. Never had a squeal or any noise come from mine. Works flawlessly and has been gigged hard in the past.

Find a used one for between $1k and $1300 and save some cash. One of the best deal on the used amp market.

The clips of the new satriani have been amazing. When Ola did his comparison of like 8 highgainer. For that kind of gain, I though the Marshall was only second to the diezel D-moll. Plus all the other stuff that it does really well. I have a JCM but if I was in the market for an amp. This would be on my radar.

Do agree with all of the above.

I love that guitar

:D Me too dude.....best guitar I've ever owned/played....put my Gibsons to shame.

Who made it? ....and at what cost approximately?

I agree with the Splawn guys. I used to own a JVM 410. I really liked it. A buddy of mine has the JVM 410 and a Quickrod. I like the Quickrod better.

Gotta agree, my JVM has no noise issues and it is literally my favourite amp, used it gigging, recording for 4 years now. Not one problem.

Wow, lot's of replies to read through this morning. Thanks for the responses guys!

Yeah, I got a line on a 210H that I might be able to get for $750. Not sure it will offer me anything my 2203KK doesn't already give me though.

Alright so first off I am only interested in midi-addressable amps right now... I run a GCX and Ground Control Pro and do not feel like spending an extra $300-$350 on an RJM Amp Gizmo to get everything to work, not to mention I do not have the room inside my road case for one to be mounted.

A Splawn Quick Rod although a nice amp, really does not impress me as much as the JVM has honestly. Call me crazy, but my ear enjoys the many sounds of the JVM over the Splawn.

The thing I like about the JVM the most... Is that over the years I have owned JTM45s, JTM60s, JCM800 2210, JCM900 4100 and a DSL... I can get all those sounds pretty easily and more with the JVM and it still has that classic Marshall tone. No matter how hard Splawn or Blackstar tries, or no matter how many former Marshall Employees a company employs, NOTHING sounds like a real Marshall.

I do have Concerns with the JVM. I have spent about 6 hours at Guitar Center with the JVM in the past week trying one out that they have there for reference (I WILL be buying USED only...) I have noticed the amps are a little noisy on OD1 & OD2... Now, I do have 3 stages of ISP noise suppression... I use a pedal out front right after my Wah and Guitar to kill the little bit of noise from my wireless/JB Pickups which really doesnt get set very high at all (People never seem to understand until I show them why I use that one) and then I have an ISP Pro Rack in my rig as well that I use for different styles of music set differently (never both at once but always 2 stages of noise gate active at once while on Lead ch's)

Any of you with an ISP and the JVM... does it get the job done nicely? Or is it a balancing act between no noise and cutting up way too early and killing sustain?

How is the overall build quality of the amp? Is it on par with other well built Marshall's or is this one a little shaky?

What tubes do people really seem to like in these? I am a huge fan of JJ's and thought I may go for my normal E34L and ECC83S setup for this amp

The JVM410 I have is just a high gain amp. If you dime the gain you need to volume down your guitar and get some distance from the amp. It does not have the issues with the hiss and all that, any different than any other extreme gain amps. I have an ISP pedal, I don't use all the time, and I use the volume on my guitar, as with any amp.

I would say if someone has a super hissing and squealing amp, there is something amiss in he signal chain.

As others have said, it is a great and versatile used amp on the cheap.

I have both the JVM and the Quick Rod i wouldn't say one is better than the other. They are just different. I like the E34L's in this amp. a lot of guys are using the 6CA7's with great results.

Did you get a chance to try out the Satriani JVM too? If you are worried about noise, that is the one to get. Not sure how readily available they are used though.

I haven't been able to find one to try or used... Not sure what is up with that... I am trying hard to get rid of my amp so I can get a JVM now tho... Threw it up on the bay and other places... Wish I could post here but I understand their worries about newbies lol! I've honestly been out of music since 2009 full time so I haven't really done much other than lurk on forums... I guess I am paying for that now when I want to sell gear hahaha I do like the atmosphere here better than another place I am a part of but will remain nameless lol I appreciate all the help/suggestions/advice/testimonies here.

if you're looking to get several great marshall tones and are going to be playing at gig/garage volumes, i think they're a steal at today's used prices. MANY great sounds, but it really comes alive with higher volume. home/GC volumes don't do the amp justice
