Marshall Satriani ( my view so far )

I tried the Satriani model last week and I didn't find much difference between it and the normal JVM. At least not enough to warrant the additional cash.
My bandmate runs a JVM 210H and while I like his tone, I prefer my Mark V.

I heard:

The cleans are from the 6100 - improvment
Crunch is AFD - improvment
OD1 & OD1 voiced alike, only less compression, more useable range of gain - improvment
New mid shift button on OD added - improvment
Gates work great, no more noise - improvment

How can this amp lose? Regardless of the artists name attached.

More of a JVM 2.0 if you ask me.

I found playing it in the guitar shop didn't reveal much difference from the jvm sound , except for the crunch channel ( more gain) .
I found the biggest difference was at band volume , I'm sure someone who uses the jvm all the time could notice stuff but I only used the head short periods of time before returning them to the shop .

As I said I kept the head , not that I needed to buy it cos I got / peavey 5150 / evh 5150 iii 50 watt / Marshall yjm / carvin legacy / ac30s blah blah . I just wanted a versatile el34 head I could actually use live . I was hoping I didn't want it so I wouldn't splash the cash .g

Will see what I can do , but since having carpel tunnel I'm a little embarrassed to play in isolation as my accuracy isn't what it used to be .

Might give it a try tomorrow .

JVM is just fine, great sounding marshall.

Volume halfway up vid,

Sounds pretty good that clip ,,,,,, I couldn't get that sound at band level , I had to roll the gain right back , and cupcaketwins mentioned something that made total sence when I read it ,,,, the jvm to me was great at low level cos the gain could be set high , but in the band I had to turn the gain down cos of the squeeling , cupcaketwins said the treble cap kicks in when rolled back , this is why I perceived the thin sound .

I watched a long youtube video on the JVM Satriani and I agree, lots of changes over the regular JVM and they appear to be for the better. I like that they finally added a choke too. It does have me interested for sure, not like I need a new amp though....

Count me in! I really am not a big fan but it's like we're connected with what we want in amps. creepy. :scared:

is it similar to the JSX?? I loved that amp
No. Same kind of amp, and similar idea regarding the voicing, but the JVM has a completely different overall feel and tone. Not to mention features too.

Nothing like the jsx ,,, I thought the peavey was okay ish but didn't gel with it . The Marshall is more errrrrm Marshall lol .

I didn't get the satriani for his connection , just cos of the features .

Would've been reall interesting had Satch gone ahead with his proposed Cornford deal. Thats would've been a cool amp. Wonder if he'd have stuck with it?

waiting on mine.....hopefully everything comes with it lol
