Anyone here have been able to play the SV20H and have thoughts about it compared to a DSL? I feel like the DSL on classic gain mode cops, some great plexi tones is the SV20 that much better than what a DSL can do?
What DSL? I had several older jcm2000 50 and 100w models that sounded great. Took a recent DSL20h to even out a trade a few months ago that I thought sounded awful. IMO the SV20 is a much much more authentic ‘plexi tone’ than any of them
The SV20H is going to be better at lower/ mid gain classic rock tones like AC/DC, etc.
It is a non master Plexi, so you have to crank it to get the goods, and that sucker is LOUD for a 20 watt.
The DSL is better at 80's shred to more modern tones.
I've had both. The DSL is way more versatile. You got the Green channel you can use w/ pedals, or the lead channels you can hit with a boost. It's 100 watts, good Effects Loop. Nothing like the big footprint of a 100 watter, w/ a good Master Volume.
The SV20 is smaller sounding, loud, needs an attenuator. Has the Bright Cap you can't turn off. If I was looking for a Marshall 20 watter, I prefered the SC20. More controllable w/ it's MV.
