I went to a local guitar store today with no intention of getting another guitar, and especially not an acoustic. I have two nice Martins already so wasn't on my radar.

I tried out the Martin Johnny Cash, made in Mexico and made from HPL (High Pressure Laminate). As soon as I hit a chord, I was blown away. Was so loud, played easy, sounded great! I played for a few minutes and decided I had to have it.

Don't pass on these and give them a whirl if you get a chance. I was impressed for $600-ish. Great deal!

I own a Martin DXME made of HPL and that guitar is a lot of fun! It was an unexpected gift from a good friend.

That's awesome! The crazy thing is that I'd played an HPL a few weeks ago and thought it would be great to have something for outside or not a big deal with temperature changes. It sounded good but this one was a complete sell. Just good to have alternatives to wood sometimes.

Ha! Quite a coincidence. I went to guitar center yesterday and saw this sweet black Martin tucked away between some entry level gear. Picked it up and couldn’t stop playing it. Guitar felt great and the back of the neck was really cool looking. Been on my mind since.

Nice! Yep same family, the x-series with the HPL. I can't believe how much these project the sound out. Really fills the room. I love my other Martins, especially my 00-28 but is a different beast.

You're bullshittin'..
You don't have any Martin's..

Yeah, I agree. I live on a mountain range at high altitude and we've got 4 seasons up here, even though I'm in southern California. It's nice not to have to be concerned about humidity ruining my acoustic guitar...and my Martin sounds pretty dang good all year around..
