Is it me or is Marty one of the few guys who's music still works in context of just him and a guitar? The solo thing was done to death in the Shrapnel years and after it but Marty has this ability to sound so good and motivational? when he plays. The dude is like a real of Triumphant emotional music lol. He's incredible and so unique when you think about it with the way he picks a note below pitch and works it up there. That "exotic" sound. Yeah a lot of it can sound similar like anyone but it never bores me really. I like the emotion in his playing and the sort of story telling. Really cool how he hears and understands harmonies.

I totally agree. Marty's instrumental stuff is great - loved him in the early days of his time with Megadeth but really dig his solo work:

Marty sounds like a musician that happens to play guitar. Many of today's super advanced guitar players sound only like guitar players. World of difference.
Agreed, he’s more a musician, while the advanced guys are more technicians. I see RR a similar way. Some of the more expressive classical guitarists also get described that way vs the ones that only know how to win competitions

I was listening to Marty before he was in Megadeth and was blown away with his playing. I wasn't sure how he would work in Megadeth and then when I heard the collaboration, it was perfect.
