Ozzy blew my mind, well Iommi more than Ozzy but in the 70's i got a steady diet of Sabbath and loved it.

Ozzy is one of the hardest working guys in music, his success has alot to do with his wife.

George is his own man and unique in a world of vanilla guitar.

I wonder if Ozzy ever tires of singing War Pigs cuz i know i'm tired of hearing it after 35 years ... $.02

When I started getting into rock music it was Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper that really hit home. When I started playing guitar I learned almost every Ozzy era Sabbath tune. I'll never get sick of the Paranoid album, but then I do not listen to the radio either. No matter what is going on in my life I can relax to the Paranoid album - even now, without the weed that went with it back then.

I still see Alice Cooper every time he comes through the Midwest, it has become a family outing.

Ever hear of a band called The sword? Pretty cool for a new band.

that Ozzy had spoke to George about joining
the band. I think it was after Randy had passed
and he threw the idea at George but it
obviously never came to fruition.

George auditioned after Randys death but Oz passed him over and went with B. Gillis

I think maybe he's referring to this era of Zakk (Before the downfall of booze. Which will rob anyone's talents if abused) . Young , super talented , amazing , accurate technique (at the time) & good songs.

But read what I say carefully so there's no misunderstanding - I honestly believe that the other guitar players that came after Randy, performed his songs better, LIVE IN CONCERT, than he did. Please refer to Youtube if there's any confusion. They were cleaner & more accurate players. That's just my .$02

Jake & Randy were awesome, i was refering to Zakk was the best thing in the last 18 years for Ozzy.

I heard Sharon had alot to do with getting rid of Zakk complaining Ozzy Ozbourne sounded like BLS yada yada.

Zakk had some health issues as well.

I think Ozzy is addicted to performing and doesn't realize he's not that good anymore.

Sabbath is nothing without Bill Ward. Was shitty that they all squabbled about who was going to make the most money when the reunion was announced.

That's fine...I have no problem with that. Except I might add a couple things...for even more clarification.

-Randy came before all those guys. So that counts for a lot.
-Randy came along when EVERYONE wanted to play like EVH. He made a lot of people realize that it's cool to NOT play and sound like an EVH clone.
-Randy had so little time to develop as a big-time pro. The first two albums were recorded back to back, they went on tour and....we all know what happened.

Maybe you already know all this....I dunno. You really had to be there to appreciate it (maybe you were). The flame burned so bright for so little time. We barely knew him...and yet the legacy is so huge. He didn't just die at a young age...he was gone before he barely started. This is so crucial in my book. I know the theory of how "what ifs" can make you bigger than what you are, but Randy was for real. A kind, soft heart and raging, furious playing. Not sure Ozzy would be who/where he is today (or rather, where he was in the 80's/early 90s ) with ANYONE else at that time- after Black Sabbath-, and that includes GL.


But it's all good, there are a LOT of really good players out there huh?

Agreed.

Randy was my main influence for decades. I was on board the USS CONSTELLATION CV-64 in the Persian Gulf running endless Special Weapons loading procedures [nukes] on aircraft during the Iranian Hostage Crisis preparing to turn Iran into melted glass. Tensions were high.
Meanwhile Randy was tearing it up with Quiet Riot and then Ozzy.
He was killed in spring 1982' while i was still deployed, never got to see him.
That haunted me for along time.
Randy also set the standard in Metal melding Classical and Rock into what is now very common, but in the early 80's not so much.
Iommi did it with Sabbath and others but by the mid to late 80's Classical & Metal was the norm.
I also heard Randy wanted to quit Ozzy and Rock guitar to study Classical only.

I've often wished he like Hendrix, like SRV and so many others would have been on the planet much longer. But at least they went out on top.
