Great clip Olaf, tone and playing.

I liked both actually, could use either/or but noticed some minor differences for sure.

Just saw this thread.

I liked both. Just curious...did you adjust the eq at all when changing speakers? Also...what speaker did you dial in to sound good? In other words did you test the MC90 first and dial up a good sound, then change speakers leaving the knobs alone?

Thanks for doing the test.
Hi Dave,

I've set all eq pots of the 3 channels incl. P + D to noon and the gain pots of both gain channels to exactly 75% and just adjusted the master (once, same for both speaker of course) - pretty much the way I was using the combo with the old V30 which was in there before. I'm always using this mic position with the two mics.

Thanks everybody for listening and the comments :)

You should try a CL80 with a V30 in a 2x12, that sounds really good! Gonna check the vid in a sec.

Thats what I had in my 2x12", Yoeri. Then bought the MC90 out of curiosity . . .

They both sound really good, but I prefer the C90. I can't help it- I've got three C90 speakers and love 'em!

Both sound good but I think the MC90 fits you better, it seems to be more in your face.

Finally got a chance to listen. For clean and crunch, I preferred the CL80. I liked its clarity and smoother treble over the MC90. For Lead I preferred the MC90, I liked the ballsy sound it brought to the table.

I am very familiar with CL80's, I have a 212 and 112 cab with them. I have only had one 212 with MC90's and am used to hearing them mixed with EVM-12Ls in a 412, so this AB comparison was great.

I also enjoyed in the video where you raised your eyebrow after doing a particularly tasty lick. Nice touch. :)

MC90 had way more balls on these clips. The CL80 had less mids and sounded kind of hollow.

+1, MC90 cuts way better. not as heavy sounding, but driven by a scooped metal tone the speaker could be used to regain the mid's and overall would deliver a serious punch in the chest in balance

MC90 for me for high gain. CL80 for boosted marshalls

i like the cl80 for everything. both sound really good, but the 80 is more my preference.

I did that? Wasn't aware of it, must watch again :D

Oh, I've kept the MC90 in there for now. Although the CL80 still IMO is a very good and underrated speaker.
