Man does this pickup have a pair or what..killer tone, has a lot of low end but it's not flabby...nice midz and wow, harmonic content screaming out atcha!

I had a bee in my bonnet about this since Jeff H from Egnater first mentioned it for my N4....well my N4 is in the shop but I had picked up a used Afwayu on teh forum here anyway...

..fast forward almost a month and I finally got round to putting it into my Schecter (yes, the one with teh fret problem...sigh!) and this pickup is insane...so much fun to play....and doesn't sound terrible/too thin with the volume rolled back or split (it's not going to convince anyone it's a single coil but still...)

+1 love mine. Has a narrow upper mid scoop im not crazy about, but its workable wth some eq. Bad ass mofo!

mine has a ton of upper mids
much more than the nailbomb I had before in the same '73 les paul custom
the nailbomb sounded just as good, but lacked the midrange bump I wanted

I always wanted to try this pickup. Can I buy it in aged gold color to match the gold hardware?

My nickel covers looked like total shit after the time I played out with them. Anyone else have this problem? Or do I really need to polish them after everytime I play the guitar? Kind of a bummer. But the finish on the guitar is all fucked up anyway so...

I bought mine with a gold cover. It was a pretty nice pickup, I had it in my LP studio. I wish the mids were dialed back a bit.

When I put my 498T back in the LP studio before I sold it, I actually preferred the 498T. I swapped a ton of pickups in the bridge of that guitar and even came back to the 498T before that. I chalk it up to the guitar never sounding better than right before you box it up to ship is syndrome....

I need to try this and we'll see if I'll like it.

Best way I can describe an Awfayu is a JB that doesn't sound anoying, with less mid spike, broader overall mids, bigger tighter bass, and more of a PAF-ish quality overall, on steroids.

:D
