Thinking about getting one of these 2 for my Alder H/S/S strat. Has anyone compared the two?

AFAIK the only difference is the magnet.

alnico 2 vs alnico 5, this can always be swapped out by wade for the other if you're not happy.

I had the blisster bucker and It was pretty awesome had a subdued high end, I had to let it go though as it was wound for a right handed guitar and I am lefty. (the coils are asymmetrical)

I've got the Blissbuckers in a VOS 60LP and it's heaven, tight lows, articulate and the highs really stand out, bright but not ear blasting.Muscular and has a nice edge.I just put a set of Detroiters in an Anderson Cobra and man he hit the nail on the head with those!!!!!!!

Which do you think you would perfer in an LP, the Detroiters or the Blissbuckers? I've got the Blisster Buckers in my LP now, but I'm probably looking to change. They are just a little too compressed for me. Looking for more grit and edge in a PAF style.

The Detroiter is really open with a nice midrange snarl and pushes harder than the numbers would make you think. The standard Blackbelts with A4 magnet are amazing. Extremely open and with a nice top end, lots of punch and clarity with a great bite. The 2nd degrees are also super open, but with more lows and highs than the standard BlackBelt and a little hotter and have an A5 magnet.

Sorry for the hi jack Amp..........I don't have any experience with those pickups.

Luxx is right on in his description of the Detroiter, Black Belt and 2nd degree Black Belt. I have the 2nd degrees in my LP and couldn't be happier. They flat out rock, yet the clarity is crazy good. Good luck with the choice bbaug!! I don't think you could go wrong with any of those three.

I think I would really be happy with either, they share some great qualities. Both guitars I have them in are Mahog backs and maple tops and 243/4 scale.

Thanks for the replies! Which one has the A5? The Angel Dust? I've got a Duncan EVH (A2) in this guitar now and would be interested in something a bit different...

yes angel dust has A5, just tell wade what you want hell do ANYTHING.

Which of these, Angel Dust, Detroiter or Blackbelts, have the most rolled off top. I'm looking for something in my 2nd LP that doesn't have that grit of a 498t or the harsh high end of my BB pro.
Something with the clarity on chords of a 57 classic + and the single note lead performance of a BB3.

Probably the standard Blackbelts because of the A4 magnet. But they are still bright because of their lower output, but it is not harsh at all. I have a set in my 1980 Les Paul Custom, and it sounds amazing. If you want really fluid single note stuff, the Angel Dust might be a little better simply because it is hotter and has a little more compression. It also depends a lot on the amp you're using. If you have a super high-gain amp, the Blackbelts will be perfect.

Thanks, that's interesting you recomend the standard Black Belts for high gain. I tend to favor lower gain pups because they maintain control better at gain. I use Marshalls from my '74 super lead to Jubilee, jcm 800, to DSL. Also a Mesa MkIIc+ and Vox type amps.
Maybe the Angel dust would work well in my HSS ash strat since it's so bright.

Hey guys, sorry to go off topic, but can someone give me a correct phone # to get ahold of Wade? I tried the number on the website and another I saw here from an old thread and both are disconnected. Thanks!

Wade's low output pickups rock HARD at high gain.

The Blackbelts are low gain as far as the output readings...the lowest that Motor City makes I think. But they have a lot more drive then the numbers would lead you to believe. Lower output pickups usually sound much larger and bigger than higher output pickups in high-gain amps. Less compression and more clarity and string separation makes your tone sound larger. Many people are surprised at my shop when they hear my guitars through the amps I own, and find out they are low gain pickups. Then we'll switch to higher output pickups and the tone shrinks. Higher output pickups absolutely have their place and do have more fluid solos due to the increased compression, but it does compress and cut off your frequency range in higher gain amps.
