Megadeth Lucretia cover, USING REAL GEAR

I think Marty used the blue voodoos about as much as Malmsteen did. Didn't he also have a crate endorsement at one point? Back then nobody could call you on anything because there were no internets!

Appetite is also an amazingly raw produced album. I personally also love the drumming on RIP. Menza was a beast with a unique style. The stupidest thing mustaine has ever done, was deciding against using him and Marty on the latest album. Should have just sucked up his pride and paid these guys. That could have been an amazing album. These guys write well together. I mean countdown to extinction is still a pretty kick ass album. Some awesome Marty on that one too. I think the best he ever played was with Megadeth.

I had no idea malmsteen played blue voodoo's!?

It's funny because he had Chris Poland play on The System Has Failed and that album turned out good. I think he was on good terms with Poland some how, thats why

Got me doing a little Marty/Megadeth surfing and came across one of my fav's. There's just no comparison to the feel and aggression Marty put into his playing vs Broderick's technically proficient but soulless versions. Love Nick Menza's feel and playing from this era. Very different kind of metal drummer. Loose in all the right ways without sacrificing power and precision.

Good find! it doesnt matter how much you practice, there will always be that human element that defines your connection with the instrument.

Totally, I think you said it all. Menza's stuff is challenging even to the guys that teplaced him. They never play his parts right, drives me crazy. You also nailed it on Broderick. Total machine but didn't have Marty's swagger or that exotic swing that he brought. I remember seeing them live and some idiots were throwing water bottles. Marty took one off the shoulder but he kept ripping and loving it. Total pro. Just kind of shrugged it off while Dave bitched at the crowd. European crowds sometimes do stupid shit like that though and I was in Italy after all. tornado souls, always wondered how the hell he would hit this stretches live but man alive, he nailed it. As for malmsteen, he never actually played the crates, I just remember him posing with them... And his ferraris. Play crate!

Nothing says power like a Ferrari and a crate! Not a voodoo bough, I was wrong about that but still a crate!

What's up with Mustaine pulling a Lucas on all these re-masters? They sound like remixes to me. Hate when people do this and make it hard to find the original version. Heard the "re-master" of In My Darkest Hour and it sounded way too slick and modernized. Not digging them at all.

yeah Daves vocals sound completely different on some RIP songs. I'm convinced he just re-recorded them

LOVE that shit man. You killed it. For whatever reason I haven't really ever heard anyone do that song justice. I was about to shit on your Blue Voodoo but fuck, Marty used that same shit. Sounds great!

Thanks! the blue voodoo will take a seat for a while. It will have its purpose someday but for now I'll stick with other amps. Johnny really pulled the tones together with the solo when he mixed it

ha! I got kind of excited to learn the solo section of Ashes and post it one day (would take me a long time to play it well) but then proceeded to discover endless youtube video's of guys playing it flawlessly. So I think I'll just enjoy rockin' out at home on it in my own remedial way...

I was skeptical about making this video for similar reasons... there is so many lucretia videos. pages and pages full of them

Awesome job dude, the solo was spot on! Lets hear "Tornado Of souls" next. :D

Ya the remix/remasters are just terrible. I was really dissapointed with them. I wish they would just re-release the originals. Killing Is my Business and Peace Sells are the only remasters that I think are alright. The Rust In Peace remaster is terrible, they really butchered those backing vocals in Five Magics, it's funny how bad it sounds.

Had no idea they remastered. Why do they bother? This means that if I tried to buy another copy of RIP today it would be a remastered? Better dig up and find my old cd or tape then. I think YouTube still has a lot of the original mixes on there. They don't sound too bad to me.

Listen to Menza here. Man he is awesome. Dave hasn't had a drummer as good as him since he got booted. The way he plays the snare and his Tom fills. So good.

yeah, I think the crew that recorded rust in peace also recorded appetite for destruction. amazing sound.

Sadly, i doubt Marty ever recorded anything with the blue voodoo's. I think he just showed up and played whatever the engineers recommended.

I bought this blue voodoo for $250 on ebay.

Marty did use the Blue Voodoo's for many years, starting around Youthanasia. Marty never has been much of a gear head, but he always gets a great tone out of whatever he uses. I remember him commenting on his website about how much he was digging the Crate BV-300H when he was recording "Music For Speeding". Marty switched to Engl amps and Ibanez guitars a few years ago though, i believe??

Also, Marty also used to use a Boss Metal Zone in his live rig. I think he used it as a boost for leads??
