Does anyone have any experience with one of these Mesa Boogie cabinets? I'm thinking about buying it, but the slant/straight style has me a bit confused. The seller claims he bought it new in 2005, but doesn't know the model name or anything. (?)

Any opinions or info is appreciated!

Yes, I have one. It's the Recto standard 4X12. Not the traditional. It's slightly over-sized, and voiced for the rectifiers. V-30's. It's a solid and great sounding cab. I gigged with mine for 6 years. Mesa prefered the sound transfer of slant cabs, so when they made the bottom cab for the stack; they made it straight front with a slant baffle. The new ones though have straight baffles. They quit making these a couple years ago.

looks like the one in your picture has custom color'd grill cloth.
Had 3 of these cabs, very well rounded tone and built like a tank.

Do you think that's factory grill cloth? I know it's not available anymore.....but it'd be great to know if it's been redone. (though they'd have done a great job if it was)

I'd say it's factory. I have seen a couple like them before.

THANKS you guys. I spent most of my night driving out to get it, but I bought this cabinet tonight. It looked clean in all the pics he sent me, but it's even cleaner than I thought it was....a solid 9.5 condition.

I thought the grill cloth was a blk/wht weave (grey)....but it's actually their Gold Jute, which looks f*cking awesome.

I appreciate the info.

Lil late since you picked it up, but I have one of those cabs (with the diamond plate sides   ) and I really like it. Seems tighter in the low end then the regular oversize 4x12's. Got mine basically brand new (never sold) at GC for $323...couldnt pass that up! I have an x pattern of V30's and CL80's in mine now, and I love how full it sounds.

under $400 from GC for a side armor plated 4x12?????
SCORE !!!

Cool... & it's never too late to hear good praises of a piece of gear I just bought! $323?! Damn....amazing score (even if it is Metal Clad!)

That is original Mesa cloth, they dont make that style cabinet anymore, they were awsome, I dont think they liked the sales numbers at the end of the year, so they changed them. The wood work inside is top notch, built like a tank!

Yea....this is easily the heaviest 4x12 I have EVER owned! (I love it to death though!)
