I took it as people being peeved about the European price which is north of $4.2k.

I think the US price of around $3,700 is steep but at least sorta kinda in-line with new production high gain amp pricing these days. But like you said, considering the price of the reissues and their soon-to-be-needed service, it feels more like Gibson is doing "what will the market bear that we can get away with" pricing as opposed to "what did it cost to produce" pricing. Whether or not that's completely true, it doesn't exactly feel all that great.
