The KK800 is a really great amp stock, great noise gate. Boosted it keeps up or surpasses any modded Marshall I've had. Very underrated amp. If only I could've kept them all.......
Absolutely!

So having established that some of you don't enjoy the gutteral vocals, out of curiosity - what kind of vocals would you all put in there that you'd like better?
And exactly how much grit is too much?
If full on Death vox are a nonstarter would Hatebreed style HardCore vox work for you? Or Machine Head style? Dio power vox still too gritty? Priest/Maiden style? QueensRyche?

For me it's just another texture. It's like guitar gain. I expect a certain amount of gain in a metal song during an aggressive part.

Phil Anselmo is about as extreme for vocals for me. Anything heavier just sounds like a joke IMHO.

I found the opposite. You need to crank the Marshalls to get the roar and clarity you need.
But i also needed to mod my KKs. Now they do everything i need - and more.
I'm glad that you found your amp!
You are right with what you wrote about the Vox. I think that's funny :)

When I cranked up the jvm the balls just shriveled up. All the nice low end disappeared. This was through any of my cabs. Very disappointed. It sounded amazing at bedroom level.

I have always thought that if you were going to spend $1,000+ on an amp it should do what you want without modding it, that's why I wound up so many amps.

I may have to make a follow up vox amp vid now that I have a little better recording stuff and a little experience lol

I hadn't seen that one yet, but with as good as Lasse is it's not surprising. That gives me an idea with my vox. If I used the speaker wires to wire an output Jack I could plug it into my cabinets and get similar results. I don't have the ability to do quad tracks or anything like that though.

Did you see my videos with the micro terror and dark terror heads? Similar situation there, they sound awesome with a Tubescreamer in front of them. With post EQ and double/quad tracking they could easily sound huge.
