Hey guys,

This week I went to Tone Merchants and Mesa/Boogie Hollywood. These are THE best places for anyone who likes to try amps and guitars BEFORE they buy it! That's cool because though I love guitar shops, I just hate big stores like Guitar Center or Sam Ash because it's near impossible to try anything without some kind of a hassle. Mesa and Tone Merchants are great.

Next time my wallet is gonna cry...

Cheers,

Vinicius Rosa.

Last time i was in hollywood i didnt even know about tone merchants or else i would have gone in a heart beat. I did check out every music store on that whole little strip they have (GC, sam ash, Carvin, etc...) and the Mesa store was easily the best one, i give the carvin store runner up. Definitely wanna head back out that way sometime to visit TM and see all the goodies they have. Hopefully i'll be able to make that happen before the axe-fx 5 comes out...

Thanks Guys, When in the neighborhood (North Hollywood) please stop by, we just moved into our new larger location across the parking lot from the old one in the Mates Studios compound at 5419 Cleon Drive. (Pic below of the new shop) Redone with Moroccan backstage theme inside.

Yeah, the Carvin store was nice too. I tried the Legacy 2 there. I think the old one sounds better. Now that's wierd! Anyway, Mesa/Boogie Hollywood is full of great guitars and amps. And Jimbo, John and Mark are great guys. Awesome place. At Tone Merchants I tried the Dirty Shirley, from Dave, and the Herbert. Both are great amps, totally different though. Great place too.

Hang on, how long have you owned/had a stake in Tone Merchants for Brad?

Definitely my two favorite shops. The guys in Mesa/Boogie are our buddies. They recognize us, let us play whatever we want. It's like visiting your friend who is a total Mesa/Boogie fanboi.

They carry a bunch of Anderson's there as well don't they? For whatever reason Tone Merchant's doesn't.

The guys at Mesa HW are awesome. They do carry several kick ass lines of guitars.......two of which are my favorite - Tom Anderson and Nik Huber. I've done a lot of business with them and once they know you, the discounts start coming.

Mesa Hollywood is Toms biggest client and too close to us in North Hollywood to carry his guitars. We would if we could because Toms guitars are very good.

I hope..... That one day.... I can acually walk into a really good store like the two mentioned above. It really sucks ass to live where I do sometimes... :aww:

I was going to mention that, but that was for you or Rob to say. It seems really silly these days though, all this territorial sales and distribution. Many of us buy online anyway, so what does it matter? I am wondering why someone who lives in LA would walk into a store, select a guitar they like, then buy it and pay taxes on it, when they can easily leave the store, go online from a number of retailers and buy it without paying state sales tax.

Or, take someone like me, who won't visit any store before buying. If TM and MH both sold Anderson's, what difference would it make which store it came from, even if they were across the street from each other? Neither store cannot control that market anyway.

I would much rather be helping my brothers out here, but........that move to North Hollywood should have been better planned

I've said it a hundred times, 2 best shops in LA. Tone Merchant's are my boys and that goes without saying. I have been close to Jimbo and Jonny at Mesa Hollywood for years, they are just the bomb. Tone Merchants, Dave Friedman and Mesa have bailed me out of amp issues when I was in a jam more times then I can count.
