Competent people are hard to find these days, if all else fails you could send it straight to Mesa and have them do it.

That is a big +1!

Im thinking about that, but shipping would be a bit steep wouldn't it??

Never heard of an amp in need of a cap job making popping noises.

It might be a tube. I had an amp that was popping (I mean scary, loud ass popping) and it turned out to be a bad power tube...

Probably not caps this time but being in the shop twice in a couple of months? Trying to cut corners to save a couple of bucks never pays off. Doesn't for me anyway.

More likely a failing preamp tube than a bad cap, though it's possible. Especially with IC's. The newer ones are godawful. I would have sprung the extra $$ and gotten Sprague Atoms (probably what it had originally) or at LEAST F&T axials.

Nevertheless, swap out preamp tubes one-by-one with a good one to see if the popping goes away. If it doesn't, then you can suspect either power tubes, caps, or intermittent ground connection in the preamp.

tubes can go at anytime even brand new ones, at least it was nothing major
