Thanks! Yeah, I know a few IIC+ Coli owners as well. I guess some of them post on here. Do you have a KRG or what version is yours?
Mine's a KRG combo; I bought it as what I assumed was a 2C based on the serial but it had a 2B faceplate...ended up being a very late 2B. However, I owned 2 earlier 2Bs and this one was tight like a C or III. I ended up finding a bare bones 2C S for a low price and sent it all to Mike who swapped pre boards and upgraded it. The power section is just a bit different than the 2C/C+ with slightly different filtering giving it a little more grunt supposedly. Got a 400w EV and weighs a ton...came with a super clean road case. It isn't set up to run EL34s though; I never liked any Mark amp with anything other than straight 6L6s.

That’s a cool story! And when I come to think about it, I think I’ve read about that, lurking the forum ?

Yes, I’ve heard from Jeremy, who also post on here I think, that the very last, (7 or 8?) IIB KRG’s are something very special in the power section.

I run all 6L6’s as well. I’ve tried it with Sylvania STR416’s, which is nice for a change every now and then. But I prefer it with all 6L6’s.

Thanks I'm gonna give those a try tonight. Great tone and playing.
Awesome! What version is your IIC+? These settings sound a little bit different on my HRG IIC+/++.

And thank you very much! :)

Interesting. I thought the Coliseum Transformers were not able to 'switch between' tube types; that the two inner tubes had to be set stock for 6L6 or with different resistors to be able to run EL34s? Mike gave me that option but said it wouldn't be switchable. Without the resistors it's dangerous for the OT. If I remember correctly.

Well, perhaps they work differently on the IIB. I don’t know. But yes, I asked Mike about it and he said either 6L6’s or 6ca7’s in the middle positions. He even put new STR415’s in for me when I had it there for service/mod.
It’s not really much different to a DRG, the difference is that in half power it still runs all 6 tubes, in simul class, but drops the wattage down to about 50W. So it’s never in class A only.
And an extra pair of balls of course ?

sounds amazing. Was really beat up when I got it so I got it really cheap and restored it. I love these amps. I'll get a 2nd one someday. Here's mine:
