Just had a buddy of mine in Chicago offer me one... How legit are these? I don't want to pay shipping and the $100 he wants if it's just a gimmick... It would be nice to ditch BIAS and go DI... I would love a TwoNotes setup, but that just isn't in my budget right now. I tried looking to see if anyone was talking about them on here but all I could find was mentions of them in peoples signal chain or live use.

Thanks guys!

Haha, that's KINDA what I was expecting to hear, but I am unfamiliar so wanted to ask lol I really want a Torpedo Live, just can't swing it right now, or for a while.

I had one on a TC50 I had for a bit, it was very eh, usable only with some major EQ. By comparison the Aiken Gold brick destroyed it

was a major bummer since I really wanted to use it for gigs. Same thing with the Friedman DI on the runts, WAY WAY bass heavy, would need serious EQ, gold brick destroyed that as well.

Hope this helps

I soooo wanted the one I bought to work when I had my Mark V...even had a Torpedo Live at that time...however, just couldn't come to terms with it. I was getting some weird distortion and it simply didn't sound good for my use. Again...I really wanted it to work, too.

I need something that is a Load Box too, that's my only thing. I thought the Mesa would be a viable option at the price but apparently it's just a turd. I'll have to stick with BIAS for now I suppose until I can scrounge up some cash for something better.

Also, Friedman is supposed to have the Mic-No-More coming out at some point...it'll probably kill the Cab Clone. I'm really surprised that Mesa made something like this that is so 'universally hated.' That being said, I can't say I've heard any inspiring demos from it - which isn't to say it couldn't sound good, but it'd be nice to find a great demo with useable settings that disproves the bad hype.

I like that they have it built into their new amps so you can use headphones instead of speakers, but it doesn't sound good. I was quite disappointed in it, certainly wouldn't use it as my feed at a gig or record with it.

As others have said... just to save cash, it is not worth it. See here:

You'd be better off with an old Hotplate off the used market or to be honest, a speaker facing face down in the closet while you use something like the Suhr Iso line out into your DAW with some IR's. Then, save until you can get yourself a proper load box/Torpedo etc..

The more I look, the more I think I am going to go with a Suhr Reactive Load and TwoNotes WOS Plugin... Should work alright for what I am doing. I'm not doing a professional studio recording. Just doing some fun projects with friends. Not trying to get signed or sell anything. Just want to have fun but doing it as well as I can as cheap as I can.

Good decision. You dont need the wos plugin really

Why not? I thought you needed a cab sim for the Reactive Load to go direct into ProTools

He means you can load any IR loader that you want but you can use the WOS plugin if you want. It is a nice interface.

Ahh! I've been toying with WOS in ProTools a bit just seeing what functions it has and it seems straight forward, so I'll probably stick to it.

Right. U can get some nice IRes for free nowadays. Or check out some demo versions from ownhammer. He has some nice IRes
And as ir loader, there are some differences in tone also. I use space designer in logic cause it sounds better as wos.

I did not like the cab clone. I thought a plain old H&K red box sounded better.

I briefly tempted the idea of a JetCity ISO Cab, but I dunno...

My Sweetwater sales rep TJ suggested i do some asking around about the Rivera MiniRec...

Anyone use one or tried one? Still just looking for a simple all encompassing option. I like the fact that the Rivera will allow me to run with the cab sims or without so I can use an Cab Sim within my DAW.

Anyone?
