Mesa Cabinet Build Quality?

I had two Mesa Recto cabs a long time ago. They were built like a brick shithouse. I mean rerally well built. I never cared for the tone of them though. Bottom end always seemed flubby to my ears. I ended up selling them both and picking up a Bogner Uber cab that IMO destroyed the Mesa cabs. If it were me in your position I would hold tight and wait for a Uber cab to come up for sale in your area.

need to hit up Greg again, hopefully he will reply soon.

Howdy :D

I never found my Recto cab boomy really. I've used it with every amp I own with success. The traditional may be a bit "tighter," but I like the traditionals mid shift down a tad. It really keeps things from getting boxy or honky.

The Mills cab, under a microphone, sounded like a less impressive Mesa Recto cab. I preferred the Recto cab, hence why I still own it. The Mills in the room was pretty cool, but the Recto cab still wins.

Good luck.

I trust your ears, seems like i will be making a decision against a Roadking cabinet as i really like that split 2x12 idea in an oversized design, a Recto cabinet, or a Stilletto/Traditional.

I really enjoy a tight rear loaded cabinet, they mic well and play great too. I went to Erock's page for all of his recordings and TBH i get the same attitude under a microphone compared to yours. Mills is out, back to Mesa for sure. at this point i will make some phone calls and then do my best to try them out in person and see where it goes :)

Thanks for all of the replies.
don't base your opinion of the mills off my clips, my whole recording rig was a cheap 4 track mixer, a Shure 57, a e906, and a GNX4 with no post processing. The Mills are fantastic cabs, definitely try to hear one in person before you judge.
