Hey guys, I thought it would be cool to swap some settings and stuff for dual rec owners! anyone want to share some of their fav settings?

I have some settings :) check the description and video for settings.
:thumbsup:

I love my old dual rec, very versatile amp, I use it in a blues based hardcore band, and a female fronted indie band. Used it in my death metal band for the last year of it as well. Im always surprised how many different things I can get it to do.

AMAZING IDEA FOR A THREAD!!! :rock:

MESA DUAL REC, A VERY KILLER AMP!!! :rock:

WRONG FORUM!!!

:lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL: :lol: :LOL:

A heavily modded 1978 Sears Swinger sewing machine would generate more interest than a Mesa Dual Rec in this place...

But ya I use the Orange channel with the Bass about 3:00, Mids about 9:30-10:00, Treble about 1:00-2:00, presence same as Treble and gain about 2-3 with EMG 81.

For 3 channel recto's I use the tube rectifer vs the solid state one and on 2 channel rectos I use the solid state rectifier only...

The power soack thingy is always always on Bold for me...

Very Impotant to my recto formula... NO 420 or 440 POWER TUBES!!! Mesa 430's or Sovtek WXT+ for me...

I tried winged C's and was not as impressed as wit hthe WXT+'s...

The ruby style chineese tubes have to much highs and a bloated bottom end with no mid range soul IMO...

Up front I use a Maxon OD-9 tone at 9:00 and drive and level at 10:00... KICKS ASSSsssSSS!!!

I stumbled onto a real clean 2 channel Triple Rec last week, never gigged. :lol: :LOL:

Having owned a 2 channel Dual, 3 channel Dual, and Roadster head I have to say I like this one the best. I assumed I would have to boost it but the amp is fairly tight on it's own, and warm/organic.

Even sounds good at lower levels. :lol: :LOL:

wow, that thing is a sweetheart, nice score man! :thumbsup:

I rarely leave red and if i do its because I'm cloning orange to it :lol: :LOL:

Here are my ch.2 settings, I'm always tweaking to fit the days mantra but I like to keep it mostly around these, the chunky chug, or maybe the filthy chug :lol: :LOL:

Bold with the 6l6's glowing

Loop: OFF
Master: 10
Presence: 10
Bass: OFF
Mid: 1
Treble: 2
Gain: 4

All O'Clock

It's a DR from 92, I've been on the look out lately for a good boost and a good eq for the amp but haven't come up with much yet. I saw a couple boost suggestions on another thread so if anyone here could recommend a good eq that would be sick!

And a ps to EXP or anyone else, still waiting on a response to why my amp has a ground A off and B on it! I've kept it on off since I got it and can't find anything on it in the online mesa manual. I don't believe they are on newer recto's?

When I owned my Dual Rec, I got the best sound when I used these settings with my matching Boogie Recto cab:

Chan: Red/Modern/Diodes/Bold
Boost: Maxon OD808, then later switched to a custom designed pedal.

Gain: around noon or a little higher
Chan vol: around 11:00 give or take
FX Loop: engaged and 'output' set a little past noon

Bass: noon
Mid: 9:00
Treb: noon
Pres: around 9-10:30

This setting used to shake the walls of my house XD

:rock:

Dual rect owner, i like my dual rect with a uberkab, emg loaded guitars and od808 as a clean boost. i really like the 2010 reborn rectifier alot, i owned 7 rectos over the years and its my favorite. i dont know how much longer i will have it because i just bought a diezel herbert and i need to pay for a guitar i have on order but even if i sell it i will definately own another someday.

I dont use as much bass as some players and i like more mids to my sounds, i tend to like brighter settings that cut.

for ch2 and ch3 i use,
diodes, 100w, bold, loop off

ch2 in vint mode:
bass- 1:00
treb- 1:00
mid- 12:00
pres- 1:00
gain- 2:00

ch3 in modern mode:
bass- 11:30
treb- 1:30
mid- 12:30
pres-10:30
gain- 1:30

Ch3: Modern
Mids 11
presence 11
Master depends on mood
Gain 2
Bass noon
Treble 1

all In O'clock
Mostly the same for ch 2

Long time recto guy here.

Love my some good recto tone.

Here is some Tverb settings Im using. The Tverb is a little different thn the solo heads but youll get the idea.

EL34s

Lead tone...
spongy/silicon
modern
Pres = 11
bass = 12
mid = 2
treb = 11
gain = 1-2 (this isnt a lot on a tverb)
OD808 in front

My fav rhythm tones...

Bold/tube rectifier
Vintage gain
Pres = 12
bass = 1
mid = 1
treb = 12
gain = 3
OD808 in front

Just an evil sound you got there. The Recto is the benchmark for that low heavy sound no matter what anyone says. Amps like the Uber, Framus Cobra, Herbert, they are all attempting to reach the level of success that the Recto has had.

Good idea :thumbsup: but some cats around here will talk plenty O shit about boogies,i say fuck em.
But i've had my first DR since 93,still love,i have 4 now.

You my friend are my new Mesa Recto demi-god...

That first video was just amazing...!!!

Is that a new 2010 recto or and older 3 channel???

G.

Its a older 3 ch, the new ones have extra switches on the front for the 100/50 w.

I would love a Recitifer to go with my Blackmore! They sure can sound great!!

I think they're currently something like this;

Orange channel
Gain: 2:00
Treb: 1:00
Mids: 11:00
Bass: 12:00
Pres: 11:00
Master: turned up to equal the red channel.

Red channel
Gain: 12:00 - 1:00... I turn the gain down as the volume goes up.
Treb: 1:00
Mids: 11:00
Bass: 10:00
Pres: 12:00
Master: 10:00

Use to have a Dual Rec Roadster and I personally upgraded the power tubes to 6550's in EL34 mode.
