Mesa Dual Rectifier Rev F vs Bogner Uberschall (clips)

Hi!
When you`re constantly struggling with your recorded guitar tone, a comparison can help sometimes. I was thinking about buying another Uber, but after comparing my old Bogner Rev Blue Mesa Style clip with this here, i don't feel there's a need for it at the moment
But i do still want an 80ies 2203, or maybe a Bogner Helios Eclipse, or a Diezel VH4 again. What is your opinion?

Here's the Bogner clip:

I did not A/B'ing the clips before recording this clip. The settings on the Mesa are just what i 've dialed in today and they just happen to have the same signature sound, minus the Head, Cab, Dual Mics and the Guitar. They are not the same, but similar. And the Bogner clip is louder. This was recorded at very low volume. The built in Mic-Pre of my Prism Sound Lyra 2 Interface was set to -50db.

And by the way: i have made the Bogner clip 1 1/2 years ago

Very cool. I'd be happy tracking an entire album with just my Rev F head. The Uber is cool as well and has been fun to use in the studio. It's similar to the Recto, but different enough for me to justify having both. Here's a quick clip I did with the Uber. There's 4 clips - darker and brighter clips, quad track of the dark with the bright, then I blended the Uber with the Rev F on the final one. They're both cool amps.

My $0.02, and just my opinions (YMMV)...

I've had a some Diezel VH4s, from early '00s models to recent one (think my latest was a '14). I never played an earlier one that I liked, but the later era ones were better in general (to me). I would always do tracks with a multitude of amps and then choose what we liked best. I'd do tracks with 1-2 Rectos, Mark, Uber, VH4, Marshall, etc. When choosing what tracks to keep, the VH4 tracks were the first ones eliminated every single time. I'm not saying the VH4 is bad. It's not. It's a fantastic amp, but I've just never got it to work out 100% for my needs. For others, it may be the Holy Grail.

I have an '81 Marshall JCM 2203 that I love. It's obviously a night and day sound vs some of the other amps. It needs no introduction. I think everyone knows what it does

I have started to think that A-B testing might not be the best way to go with amps, since your ear quickly gets used to certain frequencies. Just to make an example, I have two preamps in my rack. When I start on one of them, the one that´s a little less saturated and with more high mids, the other one sounds like buzzy mush when I switch over. If I go the other way that first one sounds like honk city. The thing is that they both sound very good on their own and would kill on a track, and both also make the other one sound worse in comparison. I guess what I´m getting at is that most stuff is perfectly fine to do whatever with, and that you can start hearing things that aren´t really there when going back and forth too much. Of course, you can definitely and obviously actually like one amp over another, but I think you can sometimes fool yourself a bit too.

I had a VH4 already, but i sold it
I'm still looking for "my amp", I had a modded 2203KK that won every competition, for a long time. Don't know why i did sell that too
The old 2203 seem to work everytime.

Yes, that's true. I have the same "problem", when A/B-ing the Vintage vs the Modern mode on the Rectifier
In my example it kinda worked this time.
But the Mesa (in the room) sounded like sh*t to me, today

I was at a friends house and it was crazy how close my Rev 2 Uber was to his Rev C recto. I preferred the Uber more.

Just removed 1 cap from V1. The cap shunts high end to ground. Without the cap the amp has a little more high end and is a bit tighter. It feels better in the hands too.

No boosts or extras in the chain. It was Guitar -> Amp -> Cab. It was an SM57 and MD421 on a Mesa (Traditional/Straight) 4X12 cab.

Cool. I thought I could hear a 57 and V30 character, but it had a bit weight to the tone. Must be the 421. I really need to break down and nab one.
