Mesa Mark lll Blue St vs. Mark lll Red St vs. Mark lll Colis

Hey Mesa Fanboys i need a little advice...I have an opportunity to buy a Mark lll Blue Stripe long head for $750 shipped to my door. Or a Red Stripe shipped for $1000 to my door or just wait for a Mark lll Coliseum to pop up somewhere (which i really want). So what would you guys do? I need to make the decision pretty soon. Thanks fellas

Both are heads, EQ, Simul, reverb and have the pedals. Exact same except for the Stripe and that's it.

$1000 Red

Since you really want a coliseum, than I would either wait for that or get the cheaper Blue stripe one. Since it costs less, it will be easier to sell and get your money back out to get the Coliseum.

BTW, I should mention I am not a mark III expert, actually never played one, but I am a long timer user of a mark IVA and have looked into picking up a mark III a number of times.

FWIW I picked up a red stripe last week that RIPS but if I could've gotten a blue stripe for $250 cheaper I would've. I think in general some people put a little bit too much stock into the color of the stripe.

I owned a red stripe.....played thru the Blue stripe.
They both kick ass.
I would get the Blue stripe in a heartbeat for that price.

Thank bud I have read that a number of times and when I do I seem to lean towards the Blue over the Red because of the increased pre amp gain

Dont let that worry you.
I was sorta "questionable" when I bought my red stripe wanting the Blue stripe as well.
The Red was just as mean and vicious as the Blue stripe.
So if the Blue stripe is cheaper.....No Brainer on that one!
Snag it before someone else does!

IMHO both blue and red are great, I'd go on the cheap and get the blue.

You wont go wrong with the Mark III amps....just make sure it has the Simulclass and the Graphic EQ.

Take it from someone who has owned several of both (red and blue) as well as a IIC+: any difference between the two is negligible and certainly doesn't justify a $250 price disparity.

I would grab the blue stripe if I were you; it could be a long time before a coliseum comes up for sale at a reasonable price.

Go for the blue. I have a purple and its wicked. Blue ,Red, Purple, Green...they all kick ass. cheaper is better.

True you can't go wrong with a Mark III if it has Simul, EQ and Reverb. I own a Red and have played through a Green Stripe, no experience with the Blue, but IMO the Red sounded the better of the two. That, and supposedly it's the most coveted of the series. Supposedly. I know I'll never part with mine.
Having said that, I say go for the Red Stripe...if you can talk the guy down a bit...
