I've played MESA amps off and on since 1979. My favorite is the Mark III. I've had the privilege own a Coli, several Blue stripes, several red stripes, and a few green stripes. The green stripe is hands-down my favorite for my purposes.
In that time I've used a ton of speakers. G12T-75's, 12-65's, MC90's, Classic 80's, EV12L's, Scumback H75's, Jensen Blackbird's. All of these have sounded great. But not perfect... Perfection is a fools errand....lol...
Anyway, I decided to try the Jensen Raptors. I ordered a pair of the 16 ohm versions and loaded them in my Redplate 2x12. All I can say at the moment is wow!. These sound like a perfect match to the MKIII. They are still new, but I can already tell they will break in and sound even better as time goes on. Just enough thump without being stiff, nice midrange voicing, high end is clear, but not strident... I'm a bit busy right now, but I will post a clip later this week..
