Different beasts what type of recto you got?

I have a 2008 Dual Rectifier Roadster, running through my ecstasy 4x12...it sounds really amazing, and I just dialed in a sweet Mark Iv lead patch on my Axe FX...it sounds killer...at least to me.

I love the recto cuz my band sometimes likes to do the occassional cannibal corpse cover

Yea i used to have a rackmount dual rect and it was amazing for rythm and heavey stuff but mark series are amazing for leads and pretty much everything i need.

Ive heard axefx mark series presets sound and they sound pretty damn close!

The mk V to me was fine,( especially if youve never played other boogies),The clean sounds were waaaay better than the any other mk series for sure...dirtys were well, approximate in thier imitation of the modes....the thing that bothered me was in the manual it states that the 3 preset knobs were the graphic eq, but presetable---not so at all, not even close....the change was subtle at best when you turned the knobs

The clean is better than a IIC+ clean? The clean on my old IIC+ was very nice so I would be impressed if the V is nicer.

The most confusing part about the V is the elimination of the Drive knob. To me, that is what made previous versions so diverse. It felt weird to play. I have given my thoughts for the past couple of weeks. I'm glad I moved on to the IIC+. Just right for me.

That was a huge topic over at the boogie board prior to its release.

I'm simply gonna say that this is the beginning of the great decline for our beloved boogie amps.

I wouldn't say that necessarily. I love Boogie amps but believe the Mark V was a miss. Rectos still have a strong hold for what they do, past Mark versions (I, II, IIC+, III and IV) are killer and I have heard some great tones out of the Stiletto series. The Lonestar has fantastic cleans and the new Electrodyne is pretty cool too. Some people still swear by their Triaxis. I don't know what the future holds but I would say Mesa Boogie has a strong, viable future. Not every amp can be a home run. Too bad the V was such a miss. It could have been killer. It would not surprise me if they rework the amp and release it with updates. Who knows? The Mark IV will always hold a place in my heart and the IIC+ is fantastic. I will shy away from calling it the "Holy Grail" amp but it is certainly one of the best amps I have played.

Well, the Recto decline started in about 1999, 2000?
