I can't believe how great this thing sounds. Vintage mode on channel 2 is kinda week, but modern mode is metal tone bliss. The FX loop is fantastic, and transparent, (also tube-buffered), with hard by-pass if you wish.
I run the gain on channel 2 at about 10:00, boost with an OD, and, MAN, does it sound good. 25 watts? I don't get the volume past 1-2, and it's loud as shit. Through my closed back thiele the bottom end is impressive as well. I'm looking to add another cabinet SOON!

Can't recommend it enough. I did, however, change the Sovtek EL84's to Mullards, V1 a JJ ECC803S, V2 a Tungsol 12AX7, and V3-V5 JJ ECC83S's. The stock tubes were somewhat grainy. Now it's much warmer, and more "thump". If you want an amp that delivers the brootz in a small package, this is it.

We'll see what a Maxon OD808 sounds like when it gets here Monday!

I loved the tones I could get with it using a Gibson Les Paul Jr. on the clean pushed with the gain up rather high and a good amount of volume.
Never thought that I could get THAT classic rock tone out of a Recto. :o

Told ya. :D

Vintage modes needs a little volume behind it to sound its best compared to modern. IMO. And in vintage I tend to drop the treble a bit and use the presence to control the overall cut. But modern is the overall winner I think.

Congrats on a cool little amp...

Nice lil amp, i played one a few months ago and really liked it.

I don't even bother with Vintage mode. Modern is so aggressive, and in-your-face, I don't feel the need to wonder. I'm quite content with the tones.

i like the one i played more than my old dual rec! it's so much more manageable and easier to dial in. but 25w is not enough for me especially at that price... if it was 40-60 and even if the headshell was a bit bigger, id rush out and buy one right now.

I love mine. It sounds incredible.
It's terrrifically priced.
Awesome for home, rehearsal, or small gigs.
I put it in the carrying case, sling it over my shoulder with my gig bag and stroll into rehearsals with both hands free (I leave a cab at our space).

IMHO it sounds tighter with the effects loop button 'in' even with nothing in the loop.

I love the loop. No tone loss, totally transparent. I run a Black Label chorus and Boss DD3 in mine. Gonna try an MXR 10-band EQ in it tomorrow. I imagine it'll sound fantastic!

I find the compact nature of the headshell appealing. And 25 watts is misleading. It's way louder than the F-30 I had.

Yep. I played Ratters and was VERY impressed. Definitely see me picking one up at some point. It's so good and such a decent price point... no reason not to own one.
