My Single Recto's Modern voicing on the 2nd channel is....ok.
It really only sounds good at deafening levels. I prefer boosting the Vintage mode.
Anyways....what difference is there on say... a Roaster's Modern channel compared to the Single? Or are they the same?

Roadster is a whole different animal, the single is more akinned to the Tremoverb series.

Yeah the amp as a whole obviously is, but I'm just wondering about the Modern channel.

Roadster is totally different. In order to get the real clean cleans on the Roadster, the voicing of the entire amp is much darker and smoother than the regular Rectos. A Roadster is in the same ballpark as the old 2 channel Recto's as far as warmth and gain structure.

I would try playing with tubes on your Recto.

I have always been opposite. I mostly cant stand the orange channel and always use the modern channel.

But, I also think the Single is the worse sounding of the bunch...

How many modes are on each channel of the 3 channel Recto's? The Roadster has 4 channels, so does that have multiple modes on each channel too?

I am not sure because I have a 2-Channel Triple. It has the channel cloning and all that...

I am jealous of your 2 chan triple. I've been saying for months that I want to buy one of those to mod. Sick amps, probably the best in the recto line if you ask me.

I rocked a Roadster for many years. Here is what I discovered with the amp, after playing it in a two-piece guitar driven, rock act:

1. The amp is very DARK. Yes, it comes alive at louder volumes. It also helps if you bypass the loop. Still though, it is a very dark sounding amp.
2. The darkness is attributed to the Lonestar circuit they put in the amp. Great cleans, but somewhat at the expense of some of the amp's upper-mids and high end.
3. The leads are not bad on the amp, especially for a Recto, BUT ... the darkness of the tone doesn't help you get isolated from the mix very well.
4. The modern mode, specifically in channel 4, adds some tight low-end girth and pronounced high end, but you lose more upper mids that help your sound cut through the mix. For what we were doing in my band, that sort of sound didn't compliment.
