Mesa Recto Reborn or Recto pre + 2:100 ?

Hi,

I allready have the recto preamp and I would like to know if it's worth it to buy the 2:100 power amp or just sell the pre and go with the Reborn head.

How do they compare sound wise?

when it was new many complained it wasnt the same. but the reborn is newer version anyway so they will already be different. my vote is head if modular isnt a goal/requirement for the preamp sag.

Reborn Triple. The preamp looks good on paper... but doesn’t sound as good as the heads side to side. The heads sound bigger, fuller.

I personally gotta have the tube rectifiers, so definitely the head for me.

Unless you plan to go stereo, I would get the reborn. An extra channel (I like pushed more than the Brit on my Roadster) and you don’t need to worry as much about 8 power tubes and two loads (although Mesa says you can avoid using one side, that’s a lot of extra weight for no added benefit).
