That's very reasonable. I'm lazy and didn't want to pack it and didn't want to worry about (or pay for) shipping. I assume they use the Mesa-labeled Spragues? My guy used F&T...I doubt there is an audible difference.ClintN667":18szzsgx said:SpiderWars":18szzsgx said:And those hubs racerx mentioned can be Walgreens or other local pharmacy/etc. It's a wonderful thing.
Curious what the total cost after shipping runs. I cheaped out and used the local guy who is really good. He changed all e-lytic caps and general tune up and even repaired the aftermarket head cab that had mounting issues...$240 on the wheel and out the door. About 2 weeks total (exactly what he estimated).
Mine ran $272 for about 1.75 hours
"Mike Bendinelli: Clean up and service- pots jacks pulls pre sockets, etc. Replace all the electrolytic caps, the 8200/16v caps on the low voltage supply did show some leakage when removed. It all cleaned up as it had not spread on the board yet. Upgraded the .1/400 caps at V5 to .1/630 volt. Tested all functions with bench reverb and ftsw set. Labor 1.75 hrs."
I was honestly expecting $350 plus another $90 for shipping so I it worked out great. I have a new headshell hopefully shipping this week.
I moved this past week and didnt get any downtime until yesterday and was able to plug in my KSR Orthos for a few minutes. I dont know if it was just due to not playing it for a week or actually being able to turn it up a bit more but it sounded so freaking good. My Mark IV is scheduled for delivery tomorrow and now that everything is kinda mellowing out at my house I'm hoping to replace the Monomyth that I sold to help with moving expenses and hopefully a new cab to go with the Mark IV.
I would almost swear I heard a difference between having the Reverb pan right underneath (like a head) vs. in a combo or just removed from the head. Prob my imagination but I left the reverb pan out this time.
