i ve tried a 5150 II today,to be honest,i was surprised maybe the mark IV wont be my only choice to replace my single recto

You should also checkout a Peavey Triple XXX.

I'm sorry, but is anyone else tired of hearing "brutal" as a meansurement when it comes to amps? Everytime I hear it, I picture a Kerry King wannabe midget with a VERY pointy guitar.

Kerrys tone ain`t that brutal anyway :D

A recto with a boost is a pretty damn brutal sound. That's what SYL have been using, as well as early Meshuggah... Doesn't get much heavier than that stuff.

I've got a Mark III (which is very similar in tone to the Mark IV) and It can get heavy, but to me it's not REALLY brutal. It's got an old school sound to it. Tight, thrashy kinda sound... with a liquid lead tone.

The Mark IV is capable of so much including metal styles. Here is a clip I did recently that shows off that style:

damn that sounds heavy! great!

the distortion seem more tight on the mark IV... thats what i ve found!

this, i think the mark iv handles low end much better then a recto

I am for sure. What the fuck is "brutal"? It's a rhetorical question by the way so I don't need a definition.

I went to a Mark IV (acually III first) from a Rectoverb and have never looked back.
the IV is tighter and clearer, boosted with a 10 band EQ in the loop I can get it to sound
somewhat "Recto-ish" If I need that type of sound.
definitely as as big and full sounding as a Rcto, but IMO a way better lead amp
I'd love to get a Roadster and run them in Stereo.

I see some kid from a upper middle class family slinging the guitar dejour myself yelling lyrics about blood and death.
