Mesa Triaxis

I had the Triaxis and while it sounded pretty good with my 2:90 on stage i just preferred my JMP-1 and Strategy 500 overall. Cleans were definitely better on the Tri but gain-wise the JMP-1 was the king.

I love the Triaxis. To get the most of it, it should be paired with a 2:90 to take advantage of the 3 extra voices the 2:90 offers.

I prefer the Strategy 400 over the 2:90. Sounds more massive while retaining that "Mesa feel". I also added a depth pot to my S400 which is the same as the "deep" switch...but adding the pot makes it a lot more versatile.

I just bought a tri and its at MESA getting repaired right now (I purchased it broken). I can't wait to get into it. Also thinking about a custom EQ.... :)

Non phat mod versions sound the best IMO

Agree FTW. Love mine, and those of you who know me know I'm not really a Boogie guy--had and sold a Mark V. The Triaxis can cover most of the Boogie catalog IMHO. My singer has one and can almost get the tones of his Metallica-mod IIC++ from his Triaxis + 2:90.

I recommend (and I own most of the rack tube MIDI preamps) if you can get a good-condition non-Phat mod version.

I had one in my main gigging rig for about 14 years. I agree with everything Shredhead7 said about the settings, especially the low bass settings. I had it paired with a 2:90 and a G-Major.

I replaced it about a year ago with a KSR Artemis. I was looking for something a bit more modern sounding.

Thanks for the input. I have been messing with it for a few days now. I am starting to get some good tones from it. It has a lot of different tones in there. I really like the cleans and mid level gain structure. I am still working on the heavier tones. I am not going to say I love it as of yet. I am used to playing through a Marshall JCM 800 2210 and cranking everything to 10. The triaxis is a brand new ball game for me.

yes it takes time to find your tones IMO. patience is rewarded ;)

I have a Mesa Triaxis and 2:90, and have had it for 20+ years. Such a great combination, and has survived the ongoing gear carousel. Using it with a TC Electronic G Major, and two Mesa Thiele cabinets with EV EVM-12L speakers. Hard to beat, and so versitile.

For the record, that same combination sounds great with a Marshall JCM 900 slant cab with stock speakers.
