Anyone have any luck using pedals in the loop of a recto without modding it? Mines a 3channel Triple, pre-multiwatt. I dont use effects normally, and all ive read is how horrible these loops are with pedals...? Not sure if i have a competent tech local to me to mod it to serial or not.

One wire series mod is easy. Just gotta pull all the jacks on the loop/back PCB's.
I did it to Single & Dual Recto's.

I use pedals in the loop of my 2-Channel Triple with Parallel loop all the time and I don't have any issues.

Good to know. Ill be able to try something when i get back to the rehearsal Space. Not much of an effects guy, but a new project calls for some.

I did it to my old 3 channel triple. It still sucked and was useless for my setup.

My 3 channel non-multiwatt dual has bleed in the loop (even with series mod) so digital effects are useless, analog is the only option.

That or leave the loop unmodded, and use digital (or analog) effects set 100% wet and use the mix control on the amp. No eq in the loop in that scenario though.

the bleed i think is a layout issue with the amp, because even if I have the loop enabled and yank the FX loop tube, the bleed is unchanged. I can affect it on channel 2 with the presence control, all the way up and the bleed is minimal, all the way down and lots of high frequency bleed. Channel 3 has about the same amount of bleed regardless of control settings.

Most noticeable in modern mode, a lot less apparent in vintage mode.

Hard bypassing the loop on the back just plain sounds a bit better too. I use it with no loop and if I want effects I run from the slave out to a multifx (set 100% wet) into a separate power amp and cab.

Im just trying to use a (mr black)reverb Pedal for some parts, and maybe a Chorus pedal. I would be lost using a processor with an amp lol.

Ugh. The loop just sucked tone any way itried it. I went back to just the grind and the head and it sounded so fucking good. Im building a pedalboard rig for this project lol.

I recently completed a diy load box so I can run my recto > reactive load > line out to my axe FX for effects > matrix solidstate power amp > cabs.

Way overkill for home use, and too cumbersome for anything else, but it works fantastically well, and I can now use effects, eq, and gate after the amp without the phasing issues of the amps loop, and I can turn the recto to ear-bleeding levels into the load.

with the master up higher than I can play at home (still only around 9:00 or a bit higher, deafening in the room), the amp smooths out quite a bit, and the difference with loop on vs loop off is not so bad. Still a big tone change but not bad, just different.

I am not sure about the 3-channel, you could look into it, but I know on the 2-channels, there is a cap on the fx return that is too low and causes the loop to lose lows when it is turned on. If you increase this cap value, you can make the loop much more transparent when it is turned on, in terms of losing bass. I did it to my 2-channel triple, and it made a big difference. I did leave the loop as parallel though. That doesn't bother me as I will just use drykill rack effects in the loop if I need to.
