It's just more cash you're gonna be spending on valves, that is, if they sound the same.

Mailman, If you buy one, let me know. I have six 6L6's (Mesa branded), in good shape, that I will send your way if you cover the postage.
Awesome!! Thanks OUTLAW!
I will have the definite lock in by tomorrow if I go for the Dual or the Triple. ;)
Some guy is 'supposed' to check out the triple but you know Craigslist.
If he flakes I told the seller I have cash in hand.
On the Back burner is the Dual .....Either way....one is going to be mine. :D

Next summer I will be buying another triple rectifier (2 ch) I'm pretty excited :)

One of the Baddest tones I have EVERY HEARD.....was my FJA modded Recto.
Amp was insane sounding....
but it was a single recto and broke up when I Cranked it for band practice.
Jerry told me to get a Dual 3 channel for the new mod. But I was wondering about the Triple Recto how it matches up since I see a good deal on one local.

My Triple kills. Huge tone with ridiculous headroom. So rich and punchy. Nothing I've played in twenty five years has had the thick massive grinding tone of my Triple Rec. Can't ever imagine being without one ever again. High gain goes without saying but I absolutely love the mid to low gains as well as the cleans.
I've had many amps over the years. This is my favorite. Plug my Les Paul Custom into it with a cable with some reverb in the loop and.....insane!

Yeah the more I am hearing and reading on this amp......its all.... :inlove:
Should know by tomorrow if the deal is thru or not.
By the weekend I will either have the triple or a Dual.

Wasnt sure what else was changed besides the power section.

It's true that it's just two power tubes added and nothing else, but it still sounds slightly different (to me) even at lower volumes, I can't explain it.

Agreed that I like Triples more. Also, if they're adding two tubes, the output transformer is likely different. I could be wrong, but last time I checked in order to handle the power of more tubes, it's going to need to be wound a bit differently.

The Triple sounds bigger.

It's like going from 50w to 100w... even if you set the volume to be the same the 100w sounds a little bit bigger... wider... bassier... whatever you want to call it.

I think the Triple is ideal for rhythm guitar... max power and dynamics.

I think the Dual is better for lead guitar... little more compression.

Well the deal fell thru on the Triple....but I am scoring a mint 3 channel Dual recto.
Picking it up tomorrow.

Congrats! I haven't gotten to play a dual 3 channel, and I didn't know how to use it right when I did get to use a 2 channel. Enjoy it man!

Good news Dan- it was my understanding that the Dual Rec was far away the better amp vs. the Triple Rec. I mean lopsided agreement on this topic. I was shocked to see the replies leaning the other way

The cons on the triple are the exaggerated aspects that Recto haters would say- more bee buzz, less tone, brittle, etc.
I've played through my buddies Triple a lot and think it sucks on low volumes- it really needs to shoot out the dbs to get it cooking. Once loud, it's metal!

Another FJA coming your way? Awesome...way to feed my FJA GAS :gethim:

So whats gonna happen to the 6505?

It'll probably be in the classifieds to fund the mod for the recto
jk, are you going to keep the 6505 and dual and run them in stereo once you get the recto modded?

The triple sounds better to me... i have owned several Rectos... 2 channel Triple wins !

Early Rackmount FTW. I owned a newer roadster and the rackmount chewed it up. If you want the whole picture, use whatever recto amp you get with the oversize cab. Mine has the leather and armor, but they sound the same. Much better IMHO than running say a marshall cab with a recto.
