@ locoed: I don't believe the mesa v30s were labeled black shadow ever. Mine say celestion as well but have a mention of mesa boogie (like produced for mesa boogie or something, ill check later tonight.)

I think the Black Shadows were the C80's, but I could be wrong.

I think that mesa labeled a lot of speakers black shadow, including evms, but most black shadows I have seen are c90s

I know,that's what I'm saying,I've never seen the older Mesa cabs with V30s,only
black shadow 90 watt,my Recto cabs say Celestion Vintage 30
70 watt.

I'm the reverse. I love my EVM 12L 200 watters. I run a pair of them with a Black Shadow CL90 and a V30 and the tone was so good I don't even use my Mesa/Boogie 4x12 Stiletto cab w/V30s anymore.

is there any way to identify the Mesa V30's by the white labels or codes?

I just bought a pair of used V30's with the ipswitch england in the small label, which means they're made in UK
the code apparently is from 2006, which is China era
can I assume this is a Mesa one then?

Riff, my favorite cab to run with the ultra is my mesa. Right now it is through a marshall 1960b with g12m70s. They are ok speakers, a bit bassy and muddy.
My mesa cab sounded almost the same, or similar anyways, with the evms. Figured I would load them up in a 212 or some thieles.
