Watched it many times.....and again tonite...
LOVE IT!!!
GOd Bless you Sam Dunn!!

We had it over here on public telly over a 12 week period. Gotta say it was one of the best music documentaries I've seen.

Yep. I've seen it a few times but always notice a new detail or two. Guy did a great job.

I wonder why he skipped black metal and related styles, and I think he didn't even mention Opeth, even though he was wearing one of their shirts in the Progressive Metal episode.

He did an entire segment on the Norwegian black metal scene...you must have missed that episode.

The one I watched last night was the Metallica Bay area Thrash one. Brang back a ton of old memories.

He did a really great job with this, this is the type of documentary that's impossible to make everyone happy and it really showed a true metal fan at the helm. It made me visit/revisit some bands I hadn't been thinking about too.

If I'm not mistaken, I think his documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey covered that sub-genre, but Metal Evolution didn't. Maybe to be more VH1 friendly?

Yup.....think this One was different then the Head Bangers Journey. Never saw this particular one last nite. It was on VH1 Classic.

Wasn't a fan but I have a huge amount of respect for warrant and Erik Turner. Their ability to adapt and make an income within their genre is commendable.

Erik Turner is a great guy!! I had a couple of his old guitars from Warrant days. We exchanged emails quite a bit back in the 90's. I was in Japan at the time and sent him something from Japan as a gift and he sent some Warrant Swag.
Always was a nice guy and down to earth when I talked with him.

Did he talk about Mercyful Fate at all?
On the one I saw last nite....no. But I did see other episodes where he did interview King Diamond. Good stuff.

Have only seen a few minutes of this one, I was quite pissed off at their exclusion of Pantera in their first doc, like they had some type of vendetta against them, pretty ridiculous they would try to write one of the more important metal bands ever (and a big reason why the metal torch was carried forward in the early 90s) out of metal history.
