Looking for some good stuff for gym workouts/travel. I've got 2800 downloads, and am bored! For thrash, I'm looking for some sledgehammer-type heavy stuff, nice crisp production, like:

Exodus, Onslaught, Warbringer, you get the idea...

Prog/Melodic Death Metal, I like sick guitar playing, Olof Morck, Dragonland/Amaranthe, (don't care for Nightrage), Evergrey, Arch Enemy again, you get the picture. I don't like the screamo shit like Nightrage, Death Destruction, Killswitch..

Check out Revocation. Awesome progressive thrash with a smokin' guitarist. I'm sure you're familiar, but if not, get some Coroner immediately. Goatwhore's one of my favorites. Not progressive, more black/death thrash, but they sure as fuck fit the "sledgehammer" requirement.

I indeed have everything Coroner has to offer, and have for years. Big fave, as is the guitar player!

+1 on Revocation and Goatwhore. Do eet.
Stein, have you seen Goatwhore live? They are a Goddamnmotherfucking wrecking ball. Absolutely vicious. One of the best live metal acts I've ever seen.

Amazing band. Saw them a few times in the old days. They've been doing some shows in Europe. Hopefully they'll bring it here. BTW, get Dark Angel's "Time Does Not Heal" if you don't have it (I'm sure you do). Awesome technical thrash.

Good call.. Now I remember where I heard that name - Matt Barlow was with them. Never checked out their music 'til now. GOOD SHIT. Guitar player shreds! Disciples of the sun fits every category - THANKS!

I have pretty much given up on modern metal outside of Mastodon. I hate 90% of it, but I'm REALLY digging Revocation. So glad I read this thread. I could do without the vocals, but it's tolerable for me. I am very picky when it comes to metal vocals.

This tune is really good.

This might be up your alley. Their albums are great, prog thrash, killer arrangements and musicianship. If you can't be bothered clicking, imagine Voivod and Coroner had a baby.

Yea Vektor - Black Future is great. I would also recommend (in case you haven't listened yet):
Heathen - Evolution of Chaos
Xentrix - Kin (remastered version with great bonus tracks)
Sodom - all their recent stuff is great
Evile - Skull
Hatriot - Heroes of Origin
Cavalera Conspiracy - Pandemonium
Toxic Holocaust - Overdose of Death
Tankard - RIB
Angelus Apatrida - The Call

That's fuckin' awesome. Nothing says romance like Goatwhore!

Also while not thrash, you should check out Tribulation's new album The Children of the Night. Kinda old school, reminds me of Mercyful Fate without the shrieking.

Nobody mentioned Testament, dark roots of earth is......

Also check out Sworn Enemy, pretty thrashy.

Chris
