Let's not start debating the use of drop D. That's just ridiculous.

drop D? more like C, B, and A

stupid low tunings with 6 string guitars and EMG pickups, done.

Yeah. :P

I hate drop C. For the drop C riffs, the tuning itself I'm not a huge fan of.

Drop B I like for some stuff, Machine Head, Stone sour.

Drop A is stupid, for anything.

Drop C#.. there's a local metalcore band that use it and I really prefer it's sound to drop C, slight difference but the way it sounds is so different to my ears.

If CORE is in the name it's not metal, automatically.
that's like christian black metal. it's any oxymoron.
or moral death metal
or slow speed metal, just impossible.

metalcore isn't the worse either. I've heard christiancore, acousticore, deathcore, and even some stupid shit called mozart core. supposedly its melodic with breakdowns. LAME.

metal core is the shit stain on the heavy metal community along with some other sell out bands, people call black and death metal stupid, at least its not "Breeee breeee breeee oink oink!" lol

metalcore = :thumbsdown:

kthx

Certainly not the elitist attitude that comes with most self professed metal categorizers.

Drop A is awesome due to the nile usage

Fixed.

a few cents higher than B is my favorite tuning for the heavier material.

i heard about the nile simply because of their tuning

This is what i have to say about metalcore, hardcore, any core really. Growing up in orange county during the time all this really started coming to life, i noticed the complete drop of real good meat and potatoes metal. I Hate the genre especially because when i was age 14 to 20 I wanted to be in a good tight legit metal band. Whenever I would meet anyone who wanted to supposedly start a "metal band" what they really meant was either hardcore or metalcore. This happened every time I started to form a band without fail, and I have made ( and needless to say left) many bands. :gethim:

every time they would play something along these lines

E-
B-
G-
D-----------------------------------------------------------7 7
A-------5-------5--------7-----7-------8--------7 8 5---------- 8
D-0-0-0---0-0-0---0-0-0---000---0-0-0----7 7 7------7 7 7

or whatever, i hate playing in drop D. it's a mortal sin in my opinion (unless it's for playing 10 years gone )

anyways that's my frustration with growing up in Orange county and having long natural unkempt hair instead of died black pussy ass hair.

FUCKING THIS.

I left my last band.. who were all good friends of mine partly because of the other guitarrist insisting on playing metalcore and the singer wanting to do hardcore and partly because the scene and attitude of metalcore pretty much turned the other guitarrist and close friend into a prick. and he's still being a prick, this does sound stupid, would take me a while to explain what I mean.

Also.. when people say they're in a core band, why don't they say when asked their genre "I play in a metalcore band" they said "I'm in a metal band" - "What genre?" - "er.. uhuh.. metal".."What metal?" - "core.*smug face*"

I like the riff tab.. :( So true.

Oh man, i forgot about the whole genre thing. people do that to me all the time. It's always " Ughh ... well... just metal" when it's not metal in any way shape or form.

im done being angsty now

you hit the nail right on the head

Yeah man, I think all my current metalcore angst is gone now actually.. I mean, I still dislike it but I'm not angry at the moment. I'll leave the 'anger' to the metalcore peeps.

  Agree, let them toil.

about my belief in the use of drop D tuning... I was pretty vague.

I hate it when drop D ( or drop anything) is used for the same metalcore riffs over and over again; just like my tab i plotted out above. drop D can be pretty sick sometimes, like in soungarden's "like suicide" or Led Zepplin's "ten years gone".

It's a little of topic but...

has anybody ever tried to play the rain song? i think the tuning is DGCGCD im pretty sure.
