PS: Bring the Metallica hate too

2:10. Haunting feedback on background guitars that mimic faint alarms for the impending nuclear war. Incredible

Edit: PS: This is the rough mix version with actual bass. Also, no solo. Another Easter egg is the rhythm guitar under the solo. Insane.

Honest question - I'm out of touch: the ja rule thing, is that real or some mash-up? Like, did Metallica actually do that?

Edit: oh man it is real..lol

Justice was indeed Metallica's last album IMO (notwithstanding gar 2).

"That's really fucking cool," says Lars of the song as it comes together. "That's going to fuck with everybody when they hear our shit later." Ja Rule is no less enthusiastic. "Ja Rule meets Metallica – it's motherfucking history!" says the rapper as he lays down his vocals.

That is really Metallica. Not AI or a mashup.

The rhy gtr under the solo of The Frayed Ends of Sanity is sick as well.

There's a lot of stories about that track and who's to blame for it but you never get a straight answer from anyone about it.

"Lars Ulrich noted that Swizz Beatz initially planned to feature DMX on the song. However, guitarist Kirk Hammett opted to go with Ja Rule instead due to Ja Rule's surging commercial popularity at the exact time of recording."

"However in a set of outtakes from the 2004 documentary Some Kind of Monster, you can see ideas flowing that may have made this a little more successful: Swizz doing some funky beatbox with the riff and the suggestion that it should be with blood-drenched yeller DMX.

And, to be fair, some things could have made it a lot worse: Ja Rule smartly declines Lars Ulrch’s suggestion to sing along to James Hetfield’s hook “Never more your whipping boy.”

Anyway, everyone seemed to have had a good time, and even had a laugh when they had to break up a card game in Ja Rule’s studio.

“If this isn’t a fuckin’ rock & roll moment, I don’t know what is,” Ulrich quips.

Yeah, not one of their best moments 🤣

Metallica with Ja Rule and Swizz Beatz.

out of all the rap guys they could have worked with, they picked a total joke. swizz has a solid resume, but Ja Rule has the opposite of the midas touch.

Run to the hills easter egg wass the only one I ever found myself lol

"mommy, wheres fluffy?" at the end of Breadfan is the first one i thought of.
