Yes , another poll :D
I'm so curious which band do you prefer.

To me - Megadeth all the way.

If Metallica stopped after the black album, they win. Since they didn't it's Megadeth.

Aaahhh, the never ending debate...

I like about the same amount of material from each of them, strangely enough from the same time period. I think that Megadeth has stayed a little more true to what they are and have made better music lately, like last 20 years lately

I don't fault Metallica for changing as they got older, but after AJFA I don't really like anything, not even the black album. They ceased to exist as a thrash band after 1988, whereas Medadeth is still thrashing with the best of them

Metallica by a mile. Dave's really cool but Megadeath doesn't even come close to the musical range that Metallica has.

I like both bands but have to give the nod to Metallica.

I don't see them as being that different range wise. Yeah sure, Metallica branched out (sold out) and started making different music but was it ever any good? :dunno: For me I think it hurt their legacy more than anything and to a lot of people they're a total joke.

The one, glaring difference to me was always the lead playing. Hammett's a dud and Marty Friedman was the best lead guitarist to come out of the whole genre IMO, well him and Alex Skolnick who I think doesn't really get the credit he deserves most of the time. Then again, neither does Testament as a whole.

Mega-who? Not even close. Mustane can't sing for shit, either.

For me 1990 and before its Metallica. Post 1990 its Megadeth.

I like both bands, but overall if I was forced to choose it would be Metallica.

The last Metallica Album I bought was Garage, Inc. I would pickup death magnetic if they remixed it. I still don't have Metageth's 13 album either. So I guess my interest in both is slowing a bit.

load is metallica's best album in my opinion; bleeding me and the outlaw torn are two of the best songs in their catalog.

people seriously need to get over the whole 'selling out' complaint because, honestly, every single one of them would have done the exact same thing if they were in metallica's position. you can't blame the guys for wanting to evolve and try something different. and besides, it's not like it really killed their career or anything - they're hall of fame inductees, still selling platinum albums, still selling out soccer stadiums, still flourishing after 30+ years. how many other bands whose careers peaked in the late 80's/early 90's can say that? i mean, hell, with a few exceptions, not a whole lot of bands who stayed true to their original sound are still even together after 30 years, let alone doing the all the aforementioned things metallica is still doing. when load came out, i remember people freaking out and cursing the heavens as if it were some musical abomination for metallica to NOT be playing their 80's thrash style anymore. but let's be honest, do we really want lars attempting to be a thrash metal drummer again? do we really want kirk wah-ing his way through some mixolydian scales? do we really want the band to attempt to recapture a sound they produced in their 20's when they're in their 40's? i love load because it's written right at their current skill level. they didn't try to do too much and they just kinda sat back and grooved and the end result was a nice mixture of sounds that they pulled off quite well. were ALL of their post-80's albums 10/10 classics? of course not (st. anger, i'm looking in your direction). but they took chances and branched out and tried to keep things interesting, and it's only contributed to their longevity.

it's like being married for 30 years and only having missionary position sex. sure it'll eventually get you off, but wouldn't you want to at least try some new positions to see if you and your partner might like them too?

Steve I don't know if you ever noticed but the weird thing about Mustaine is, no matter what he's doing it looks and sounds like he's shitting. Look here's him singing...

Here he his playing guitar..

And here he is not doing anything, just standing there wearing a very ominous diarrhea face..

Let's take both band's alumni and make a cool band :

Vocals - Hetfield
Drums - Menza
Bass - Burton
Lead Guitar - Friedman
Rhythm Guitar - Hetfield

Behind the scenes helping with co-songwriting and arranging : Mustaine & Ulrich

Imagine this lineup in their prime. Could it get any better than that ?

I like both, but it's Metallica for me. I just prefer most of their arrangements overall....particularly, their earlier stuff. Although, Megadeth has definitely put out some good music over the years as well.

Megadeth - I find their music more interesting, esp the rhythm guitar work.

...but Hetfield is a much better singer.

+1
IMO Marty Friedman solos are far far better than KWIRK WAHMETT solos. And fortunately , they don't sound like never-ending sequence of : WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH.

Even the Marty solo project material are far better than all material composed by Kirk from last 20 years ...

I really liked Marty's solo stuff too, he's just a great player all around and possibly my favorite. I wore Loudspeaker out

it all depends which era, if you're talking today i think Megadeth are a far superior live act to Metallica, and as a teenager i preferred Megadeth too, Rust in Peace is such a killer album

I must say this year I was at Bemowo and Metal Fest ( Bemowo - Metallica , Metal Fest - Megadeth) and the live performance was equal from both bands(To my ears ).

And IMO - Lulu is still a salt in eye of Metallica ... I know that Lars said this was a experiment but ... damn it suck so much !
