Metallica with Dave Mustaine

You know, Metallica is as tight as ever, and sounds good. I think something I miss is a young Hetfield's voice. There was a power, an aggression that he doesn't employ in is current stylings.

I liked it! They band aspect was really good, and tight! I just wish James vocals were higher like older metallica.

Same here. But really, how many singers can nail it just like the old days? There are some, but not many.

james never really was able to sing that high and be "healthy" he's a baritone and if would have kept singing like that, he wouldn't have lasted pass The Black Album.

As a matter of fact he changed his singing style (around Justince) when he kept getting coarse throat every week from having to sing "like that" 4 - 5 nights a week.

As a singer who has taken lots of vocal lessons, here's my take on James current voice:

He has clearly taken voice lessons and he has improved his singing, BUT sometimes when you improve your singing you improve vocal range therefore it feels good to all of a sudden reach high notes..... IMHO James has gotten addicted to the upper register (technically called Head Voice) and he's trying to hit notes that are on the borderline of his comfortable range.

when he sings lower notes you can feel his voice sounds better, healthier and cleaner than in the past (Black Album era for example), He sounds like shit whe he tries to hit these high notes that he's not really comfortable with. It's a very common vice on singers.

Yeah there are some other really killer ones. They jammed with Glenn Danzig, etc. and there is a clip with ALL of the original Metallica players.

Anyone else notice Dave is still using his JVM410
  I think he was also using that 2010 triple rec under the JVM. I saw it had a footswitch on the rack next to it. A dummy amp wouldn't need a footswitch :D
