Wow, I'm a Scumback M75 user but I thought the reissue Greenbacks sounded fuller...and were the best sounding of all the new speakers in the test (ASW were the worst...very boxy in comparison IMO). Things that make you go hmmm?
That m75 is the paper voice coil. It is brighter and nicer sounding than the standard m75. I have a pair of weber legacies (at the least very similar to the blueframe scumbacks) and a pair of g12m RIs. I like the RIs more. They are brighter and more aggressive and sound more forward. The webers are darker with a muffled kind of thing going on.

I'll give you brighter but I'm reserving judgement on nicer...these didn't hold up to the reissue Greenbacks IMO for what I like.

I'd be curious to hear how a V30 would have sounded in this test...I tend to like them mixed with Greenbacks.

The new creamback 65 would have been interesting to hear too.

There is a video by Pete Thorn demoing the scumback standard, PVC, and blackback. You should be able to find it on YouTube. I thought the PVC sounded the best of all them, with the standard scumback being real dark compared to the others.

I'm interested in the new creamback. Sounds like it has nice, big mids. There's a video comparing it to the scumbacks. I liked the creambacks more.

Yeah, I didn't care much for the asw's were my least favorite, they had the greenback flavor they seemed to have a cocked wah tone or quack to their voicing. I think the Celestion heritage and the reissue gb sounded great and very close to the original. The scumback also very similiar to original. Would have liked to see how the older blue scumbacks would have compared along with others such as weber legacies but I guess it's easier to keep the choices down to just the top few.

67's, RI's then Heritage for me.
Should have skipped the ASW and done the WGS GB's instead.

They really should have thrown some Webers into the mix. The Legacies are some of the best sounding GB type speakers out there.

I feel the same as D-Rock, 67's had the edge, then Scumback, RI, Heritage. That other one shouldn't have been in the roundup IMO. I'm sure a 412 of them in the room would be alright, but when compared with these other speakers it sounded pretty dull and muffled.

scumback sounded nice and chewy to me. i liked it best.

that ASW sounds like the celestion g12m70 speakers i have....just GHASTLY.

 It's almost the polar opposite of an M70...the ASW was very boxy while the M70 is too scooped in my experience (without compensating with eq).

the m70's in my rivera ported 2x12 sounded just like that. dead, boxy, and very meh.

Goes to show how much the cab itself comes into play. Way too damn many variables to ever stop tone chasing ;)
