Gotta tell you I know everybody loves this guys speakers but beware. I bought a vintage Marshall head a few years back and called him to ask if he would retolex it. He said he would. Then I decided to move the amp along and contacted him telling him that I had sold the amp. Well he freaked emailing me telling me I am a flake, assh*le and all sorts of crazy stuff. So I told him sorry and even paypalled him the $35 he was out on the tolex. I mean come on if you are in business you buy supplies and sometimes things change. Bottom line is I sent him the money for the tolex anyways so he wasn't out any mney. So fast forward to tonight, I send him an email tonight saying I might be interested in buying a pair of Scuminico's and this is how he replies to me:

You’ve done your fair share to discredit my speakers, and me online ever since you pulled your childish, selfish, bullshit stunt two years ago on that head recover. Can spin it anyway he likes. I contacted him as soon as I decided to sell the head and he flipped on me. He never left me one voicemail either. So I don't know where that came from. I told him I was sorry but I would have the guy contact him that bought my amp. That wasn't good enough for Jim and he sent me an email calling me all sorts of names. Even after that I asked him what he was out on the cost of materials and sent him that amount via paypal. Last night I tried to make amends and Jim replied with the above email.

There was a miscommunication and you flipped on me. I apologize if it screwed your weekend up. The reason I got so mad is the emails you sent me ranting and raving at me. I sent you the money. As for the guys on Rig Talk you put up a response that was completely one sided and before I got a chance to reply to it the thread was locked.

To clarify why I said my son's values are just fine in the paypal it was a rebuttal to this comment you sent me in one of your rant emails:

"I hope you’re not teaching your son this set of values. That would be really sad. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider how you interface with others in the world, instead of the “It’s all about me!” path you currently seem to be on."

That is just part of the email you sent me. I will for your sake leave out the rest where you call me a bunch of nasty words. I really would like to drop this whole thing but you call me out and make me defend myself with proof. So just drop the whole thing.

I mean really Jim you got more to lose than me. I don't care what people believe because I know what went down. You have your version and I have mine. If any of those quotes are real, I have to wonder which parts of the story were left out, because I can't imagine anyone short of an absolute psycho flying off the handle like that because they lost one tiny piece of business

Pretty much this. Scum (who I do not even close to know well) is a solid guy. He makes great speakers. He gives good advice. I have one of his speakers and I love it. He was also nice enough to send me five pedal power daisy chains he didn't need for just the cost of shipping. He is here a lot and I have to say he puts out a lot of quality content and advice.

He was really cool, gracious even, with me when I had to back out of a deal after a pipe busted and I had to replace my flooring. I wonder how many times he's had to deal with stuff like that, compared to how many times he was unable to come through for someone.
