As some of you know, I ordered a Blackstar HT 20 head last week.

Didn't pay much attention to their emails until this morning, because they usually ship UPS and items get to my house in a couple days.

Checked the tracking this morning and it was a weird number that didn't match UPS or Fedex based on my experience. Called customer service and was told it is FedEx freight.

Seems weird to me because I thought freight was for big items (the amp I bought weighs 34 pounds....doesn't exactly qualify as big), but I was told they are now shipping tube amps this way because they have been experiencing high levels of tube breakage with UPS.

OK.

So, I call Fedex to get the scoop and find out the amp I ordered last Thursday is scheduled to be at the depot NEXT Tuesday. And....now get this....they will call me sometime Wednesday to schedule delivery within 5 business days. Freight will not dleiver to my residence without an appointment.

I asked if I could just come to the terminal to pick it up myself and found out the terminal it will be delivered to is 30 miles away.

The world certainly isn't coming to an end, but this is one inconvenient way for me to get an amp.

Wow, freight for a small blackstar HT-20, WTF. My TV was shipped frieght and it was a minor PIA, but for the TV it was worth it.

If I were you, I would call up MF and complain. They should just package their stuff better and ship regular FedEx or UPS over Frieght.

Same thing happend to me when I just bought a Peavey JSX combo amp from them. I thought it was strange that they used Fedex Freight, sense Fedex's website says it's for for packages over 150 pounds.

Call and cancel the order. See how quick you get it then. Companies have a way of becoming motivated when it comes to money leaving their pockets.

When I buy something, I have been checking who they are shipping with. Fed Ex freight home delivery tried to deliver and would not leave it without a signature, now if it is going to be shipped Fed x I have them ship to my work business address or not ship fed ex. Also, the box was trashrd. I worked at fed ex freight. The large chutes they use sometimes crushes the smaller boxes that are in front of a larger boxes on the chute.

Great...more shit gets stolen off my front step, since they can't walk 30 feet to the back porch. Fedex sucks balls.

I bought a recording desk/console from MF and they shipped it fedex freight. It came in late and damaged.

I hate all things fedex.

I actually did this....before coming back to the thread.

When I called, the CS rep told me to call either refuse delivery when FedEx calls or call them and refuse delivery, so I did the second option.

The CS rep also told me they are getting a lot of cancellations when shipping FedEx Freight due to the inconvenience to the buyer. Hopefully MF sees the problems with this shipping method and goes back to UPS/FedEx ground. Though imperfect, they are more convenient.

Oh well...looks like I won't be trying out an HT20 soon after all :aww:

music123 ships UPS ground for free

I'm expecting some pedals today from music123

I called MF about this yesterday, they use both UPS & FedEx, you can request either, they also use USPS for some things.

nowadays people want so bad to be done with their day, they dont pay any attention to anyone. You have to spell it out letter by letter what you want them to do. sucks.

just saw that MF changed their free shipping offer to "No Minimum Purchase"

that explains it !

Yeah but as far as that goes, you get what you pay for. I ordered some guitar strings and parts. They shipped it via fedex to USPS and then it came to me via USPS. It took way too long. I would prefer to pay for shipping and get stuff quickly.
