I remember we briefly chatted about that one after seeing it revealed at NAMM earlier this year, and I've just seen today the first examples hitting the sale sites.
As I was expecting, those are $$$; 50 limited run. There's one on Reverb for $17k, $20k in Europe, sold even before hitting the website..o_O

I honestly have mixed feeling about this; in no particular order:
For that price I'd rather have a real '71 Medallion.
The construction is not even "correct" (no step at the neck joint WTF?!); come one Gibson, you can do better than that..
There's been a LOT of confusion about the different original guitars MS's had over the years; in particular my understanding is that his "main" '71 he had in the 70's with UFO, that he had refine'd multiple times, white, black.. later to be made B&W by Hamer after their repaired it and that is all over the 70's albums & the final '79 legendary live has been lost in time for decades. So I wonder what was the actual guitar they used to "recreate" this one?
That being said, F*#k the details, this is waayyyyy overdue; MS is IMHO one of the very best true originals that inspired so many, including myself. Always loved him and his music, throughout the decades. Seing him in good health, still ripping live, genuinely having fun enjoying that tribute release for the UFO 50 anniversary made my day.
This is one of the coolest guitars ever, glad to see this tribute coming to life.

As much as I love MSG it's another cash grab that is about 40 years too late. There may be a few collector fans that have to have one but probably not enough at those price tags. But if they sell all 50 for $20,000 a pop just for a paint job over the price of a standard V then I guess Gibson will be laughing all the way to the bank.

Ya never know look how those $25,000 EVH Franky's got scarffed up a few years ago.....................:dunno::confused:

Yes, It's great to see Michael still out there ripping it up, Amazing really......maybe he should tour with Keith Richards.

I saw him on his MSG tour in 2018 with all his different singers over the years and it was a great show since I missed him playing with UFO.

I was just reading that Kirk Hammett bought the original one from Wolf Hoffman from Accept a few years back.

This would be really cool if it weren't $17K... It'd be great if they'd do a production run or even just a CS run that isn't signed and all that. At least something in the range of mere mortals, er, musicians, and not just collectors. We might see an Epiphone run, but still...

All the latest live clips of him, looks like he's playing a production '70s V as recently as about a week ago.

And yeah, he influenced everyone that came after him and is still underrated and largely unknown. A true great, IMHO.

I neeeeeed one of these Schenker V's. I'm going to have to go buy a lottery ticket so I can afford one before they all get sold to collectors who won't play them.
