I'm thinking around 900-1100 bucks since I wanna trade my Epi 1959 in for a bass, and the bass has to be more expensive for them to take it in.
I've always wanted a Jazz bass ever since I played a friend's American Jazz in one of those restroom-tile finishes (Sonic Blue or Surf Green, LOL, I forget). I love the clank you get from those basses, and the neck profile is nice.
In my price range, I think I'd be able to afford a MIM, right? Are those any good? The bridge itself looks very flimsy and low-end, and I'm not sure what kind of pickups they put in those? Other than that, I wouldn't mind a white, a sunburst, or even a plain black one.
But I wonder if I'd be better off with something with a more modern/sleek design. Something like Ibanez. I started out on bass on an Ibanez Gio, and I loved the neck profile on that.
I love the looks of a traditional Jazz bass, but they are kinda clunky, heavy, and bulky.
What I'm 100% sure I don't want is a P-Bass. I don't want a dark and/or honky-sounding bass.
It's going to be tuned to Drop C with heavy gauge stainless steel strings, if that makes any difference.
Opinions?
