I've got from 2, to 3, to now 4 amps in my basement rig. I play them all at once, and don't want to tap-dance. I'm using a Decibel 11 Switch Dr and an external ABY switch and I've maxed out what it can control.

I'm looking at maybe a Voodoo Labs Amp Selector, but would love any suggestions. Expandability for more amps would be a plus. Thanks!

If you can find a Mesa High Gain amp switcher, there is nothing better for the application.

I use a Custom Audio Electronics Amp selector to switch 4 heads (1 at a time, through the same middle Dry speaker cabinet), each head also has an adjustable line level control (Which incorporates the preamp and power amp sections of the amp in the Line send) which sends to the 'Wet' side of the rig, which I power w/ a Mesa/Boogie Simul 395 Stereo Power Amp. Expensive, but works FANTASTIC, but not sure about the time to get one, http://customaudioelectronics.com/products?view=product&prod_id=prod7

Look at the Ampete switchers, the best current production head switchers.

Love this forum, thank you all so far for the input. I have some homework to do!

yeah i totally agree but he seems to want to have 4 amps on at once, the ampete switchers are awesome, with loops blbalbala

but to my limited knowledge you can only have 2 on at once, right?

Ampete and Bradshaw's I believe will switch the whole head in and out which is very cool cause they have built in loads going on..I think the mesa is just for preamp switching only-no load. Its a cool time to be into gear.

Do you have cabs for each or are you tryinh to switch multiple heads into 1 cab?

If you have cabs for each and just needed switching with midi, i like the lehle stuff yhe best and ive tried alot of the competition.

Each amp has a cab/speakers. Does the Lehle support midi control? I didn't see one that I though did.

They do but require an adapter (TRS to midi) cable.

False, only the 222 model supports two amps on at a time. The Ampete switchers, be the 222 (real-time switching between up to 2 amp heads & 2 cabs), 444 (4 amp heads and 4 cabs), and 88S / 88S Studio (8 amp heads and 8 cabs), allow you to switch your amps (1 at a time) in real-time between your multiple cabs (up to 2 at a time) regardless of the cab impedance, with the exception of the 222 which allows 2 heads & 2 cabs played simultaneously.

I don't know why the other Ampete switchers don't support multiple heads being played simultaneously, granted you have enough cabs connected. It's a great application in that you can switch between heads and cabs in real-time. I actually have an open email chain with Ampete Engineering asking if there'll ever be 444 or 88S / 88S Studio switchers allowing two or more amp heads to be active at once.

Damn, I was going to get one of these, but only quickly looked at the I/O and didn't see a 5 or 7pin connector. I have a workaround on its way, so I should be up and running. I just bought another buffered splitter and have extended the life of my Switch Doctor. The spaghetti is getting out of control though..

correct should have been more clear

i would look into the old sound sculpture head switcher thingy, impossible to find, but they claim to be making another one

it's more of a matrix type situation with the switching, where any head can go into any cabinet, i've always wanted a 4x4 way of doing this, so 4 amps could be on at same time, to any cabinet, or 1 amp to 2 cabinets, or whatever

cool stuff, but not being made at this time, or possibly any time in the near future,

ciao
