I wish you the best. I had to sell some of my best stuff because of medical bills and it totally sucked. 10 back surgeries later and I am down to a 1974 Friedman modded Marshall, a JVM 410, 3 4x12's, 2 Sambora Kramers, and 3 Charvels. It sucks but I will survive. You will too!

Sorry to hear that. Feeling with you. If it`s "only" money there will likely come better days later in life again. Have sold a lot of stuff due to financial reasons and have never looked back.

Holy hell... is there ANYTHING left of your original spine?

Someday they'll figure-out how to just pull-out the spine and implant a spring-steel like piece of titanium that does the shock-absorbing work of the spine without the disks wearing-out. I'll probably long-dead by then.

I might be in a similar position. Its a tough thing. It brings up all sorts of questions for example, I have 2 vintage fenders, a brow face and silverface. I like the brownface more, but it is worth considerable more, but harder to replace. So do you go with what gives you the most money or what is easiest to replace? I have also tweaked my gear to my tastes, hate to think about getting in new stuff and getting it setup the way I like. Tough questions for sure.

Feel for you but hopefully its a short term thing and its for the positive in your life. I had to pawn a prized guitar that was my first really decent quality guitar way back when my wife and I first got married just to make ends meet. About 10 years later, thru some clever detective work and a guy with a big heart, I was able to buy it back. Will not part with that one again.

Well, if it is something that you really want and need the cash to get there, then sell, sell, sell! You can always buy things again. These are posessions for some and tools for others. Either way, you can always get new gear when you get settled. I'd say keep a couple of items that are really special to you and would be hard to replace.

Sounds like the reason for the potential sale is coming from a good opportunity or you wouldn't be considering...best of luck man. My only advice - some gear has sentimental value and some of it is just cool. The cool stuff can be replaced, but hang on to the sentimental stuff. I've got an axe I bought after my dad passed several years ago, always made me think of him, will never be able to let it go.

I had my main axe, a Hamer Centaura a few years back...but I HAD to have a Jackson Soloist...so I sold it. Wasn't worth much, and had some battle scars over 20 years of gigging. Worst gear decision ever. So many memories.....all more distant now that that guitar is gone. Advice for you is same as some others...sentimental stuff keep first. Hard to replace second. Again, good luck on the opportunity!

Not much, I have 4 feet of titanium rod and 20 screws. Most importantly, I can still play in a band so life is good.

When the fish are bitin' ,cast your rod. It's good to hear your thinking of selling do to opportunity rather than an emergency. If I could buy something of yours with the understanding that you have first crack at buying it back I'd enjoy that. No one here wants to see you lose your stuff.
