Was hoping to get some verification.

Bought the guitar second hand a few days ago.

Buyer claimed it’s a Japanese model. There’s no serial to be found anywhere. It’s an older model I assume 2010 or older. Has no identifiable markings or sticker.

Guitar itself feels great, neck is Birds Eye and feels like butter. It’s weighty I don’t see a single defect or anything that’d raise eyebrows apart from a missing serial number. I believe it is supposed to be on the underside of the head stock.

It’s possible it was filed off as when I rub my finger along it’s slightly rough as compared to the top of the head.

I can tell you it feels much more premium than the New Mexican specials. It ‘feels’ Japanese the neck is sleek and speedy. Guitar has some weight to it so I’d find it hard to believe it’s ab Ali express knockoff lol. It’a dark cherry colour.
Hopefully someone has some insight.

The guy that sold it to me said the earlier years the japanese ones typically had a made in Japan sticker only - but I’ve never heard of a guitar without a serial…

The associate at the guitar store said the same thing.

I have ONE guitar I sanded away the 'Made in' label from on the back of the headstock. Never do that but in this particular one, it had annoying placement. Sterling SR50. My point? Kind of odd but not the craziest thing. If you are able to ID anything else at all, that would be cool but probably is fine. GREAT looking geetar!!

I have a made in China from 2011 and it does not have the serial number on the back headstock. It just has the "Made in China" stamp.

Thanks guys.

I’m not going to worry about it and just accept it for what it is. The guy I got it from seems like a pretty honest guy he runs a shop a life long musician and is a fender retailer.

Regardless the guitar plays like a dream. I wonder though if I am able to insure it Inder my apartment insurance since there no serial.

Look on the edge of the headstock for the serial #. For some reason that is where they are located on the Japanese and Chinese models. If the serial # contains a "J" it was made in Japan. If it contains a "C" it was made in China.

Nothing. The guy at the shop I took it too thinks it was filed off. He could be right.

In fact now that I see the photos those lines look to me like it was in fact sanded down.

I don’t doubt that it’s a real Wolfgang though.

First two photos are where the serial ought to be and the last one is a photo of the top of the head stick.

See about getting a replacement control cover and etche a number onto it form that purpose?

It looks like EVH pots have 4 digit date codes. Knowing China was 2011-2012 that should help
